Green blotches?

cornscorpfrog

Corns are the best
 Hi
I bought a new 2005 Butter hatchling on Thursday and only noticed that she had a small green blotch underneath her, it looked like it was under her skin but because it was so small I didn't worry very much. Over the last couple of days I have kept checking on her and at first I didn't think it was getting any worse but now there is no doubt that it has spread.
Has any one ever had this problem?
Is there anything that I can do to help her? or is it just something that will go away and not cause any harm?

hi,

is it just one green blotch ? can you get a photo of it ? are his scales affected or are they normal ?

one of mine has tiny orange dots on his underside, but i think this is just his markings as it is continuous throughout his body & looks pretty normal.

a pic would help the experts on here have a better idea.

good luck

Pictures

OK, I have gotten some pictures they are not very clear but they are the best that I can do. Yes, it is just the one blotch, the scales seem normal, I think it is under the scales. I have noticed that a bit more of her has gone slightly green nearer her head but I can't remember if this was there when I first noticed the main green blotch.
I think I may have just been getting paranoid when I thought it was spreading but I still don't know what it is or how serious it is or how serious it can get. Can someone please help?

One of the neatest things (I think) is the ability to see organs through light colored snakes. I'm not sure what organ it would be, but I'm pretty sure that's what it is. It's really amusing when you feed a snow corn a dark hopper - you can see the food traveling all the way through their system. Depending on when your corn was fed last you will also want to look for the dark spot near the tail :grin01:

It's hard to tell with the picture, but that was what I was thinking - an organ or food item. As long as the scales don't look messed, and the substrate isn't moist, I would keep an eye on it, but not worry about it.

Sometimes as a snake dies its organs fail and it can leak bile but I'm very sure this isn't the case with your snake. It just looks like you can see the liver (I think, don't quote me on that) through the snakes skin. As the snake gets older you won't be able to see it as well. With fresh new baby snakes, you can often see their intestines marked out through their skin. It's very cool to see!

If it was a bile leaking issue, it would happen over a 12 hour period and the snake would be history so don't worry. I guess th reason the patch has grown is because your snake ha grown...makes sense doesn't it??!

thanks

:) Thanks a lot, I guess I was worried about nothing, at least if your right I can put my mind at ease, but if anyone thinks it could be something els please say.

YOU HAVE POO! My Ivory looks much like that most of the time especially 2-4 days after a good meal! That is to say, I don't think you have much to worry about. Just be observant and diligent as you are!

I looked up a bunch of info on this after seeing it on all the snow corns I recently checked out for the pet store. Everyone is right hehe =-) Generally the liver will appear as a green "blotch" on the belly of lighter coloured corns, and as stated this will become much less visible after time (age). Nothing to worry about generally =)

Being a snake "health inspector" has its good sides LOL.
