Green Mojave Snake

I was wondering if some one could help me. Last summer I had a green mojave snake it was in the kennel with 2 of my dogs. Well after about 5 to 10 min stand off it went under my Mobile home and the guy that was with me said that it is still probley under there now after all this time. My question is after all this time wouldn't it have left. Exspecily with the dogs. It was a real hot summer so I thought it probley was just looking for water.
Animal control would not come out they said if I caught it to give them a call than they'd come out. Sorry for the long post but I was just wondering.

Well, I'm going to assume you are talking about a Mojave Green Rattlesnake. If not, sorry :)

I honestly doubt that it would still be under there unless you have a really good sized population of rodents living under your house. And with the constant traffic that is going on above it, and the dogs being around to bother it, it most likely would have moved on to a quieter place.
You probably would have seen it again if it was still around also.

If it is still under there, I wouldn't suggest trying to get it out if you don't have any experience with venomous snakes. Where is it that you live?

Thanks for your reply. Yes I did mean green mojave rattlesnake. I didn't think it would be around any longer as I only ever saw it that one time and the activity like you said.
I live in southern nv. I heard that their was alot of green mojave here this summer. Now I've seen quit a few king snakes and racers in my neighbors yard, but not mine. Thanks again.

There is a possibility that the snake is still in the area. Rattlesnakes are territorial and return to their birthing dens each winter. They have a fairly large range but will usually stay within a few miles of where they were born. If there is food and water readily available there's a good chance it's still around. If you were in California, there's a snake avoidance clinic available to train your dog to avoid snakes. The Quail Unlimited Chapter in NV might be holding them too. The guy that ran the dogs for us and provided the snakes lives in NV as well. There is also a rattlesnake vaccine made by Red Rock that will help give you some time to get your dog to the vet should it be bitten. Green venom is highly neurotoxic and will kill your dog. They are a beautiful snake though and beneficial. If you do see it again, perhaps you can trap it and move it, but you'll have to move it quite a ways to keep it from coming back. My friend that does the dog training program in NV has several in his collection although he caught them in CA when he came for the clinics. If you do see it again and you are not comfortable with moving it yourself, you can try to reach my friend Bob Kettle. He is in Fallon and does snake removal for local Fish and Game.

Thanks for your replie Meg. I was hopping that he'd be gone for good. I've lived here for 11 years and never have seen one here before. I use to see a cal king every summer, but this was the first summer that I haven't seen him. I live across from some BLM land so maybe he came from there for the water. Thanks again.
