Hi all

I live in Denmark and just got my first corn snakes a few month ago.
They are about three years old and both wonderful and fascinating.

They are very mellow and easy to handle and most nights they come and ask me to be let out by clinging to the vivarium door, where it opens. So they are very much in control and I usually never forces them to do anything, so they are extremely relaxed and never stressed.

This is the smaller one:

And this one is a little bit larger:

And this is their home:

It took me a while to decide to get them, because I breed cats and have 10 of them and I was afraid that the cats would stress out the snakes. But there has been no problems whatsoever. The snakes are really curious about the cats and tend to actively seek them out, especially in the begining. And as you can see, the top of the vivarium is a favorite place for the cats and the snakes don't even react, when they jump on top of it, they simply don't care.

Hello welcome to the forums I was wondering do your snakes have there own cage or are ya keeping them in the same cage ?. Because if you are that is a big no no snakes should not be kept in the same cage . And I see that your cat is on top of the cage you might want to remove the cat bed somewhere else because it could stress out your snakes. :)

I only wanted one snake, but these two came together and they have been together their whole life, so I decided to see how they got along and there has been no problems. I don't have room for two large vivariums so if I separate them, I will have to get rid of one of the snakes. I do know that it's not generally recommended to keep them together, but at the same time, I know a lot of people who do it without any problems as long as you are observant.

I didn't have a cat bed there in the begining and there were cats all over the place anyway. The snakes are not stressed about the cats at all, in fact they are very currious about the cats and they will come out from their hiding when the cats are there and try to smell the cats. They never flinch when the cats make sudden moves or anything like that. In fact, I think they like the cats better than they like me :spinner:

are your corns "regular"? they are beautiful... and so is the cat! is she/he an abyssinian?

Yes, they are both regular corn snakes, but different in color, as they often are.

The cat on top of the viv is an abyssinian, a young girl, called Chelsea. In the first picture you can see a bit of an abyssinian head - that is Chelsea's great-great grand mother, so we have several generations in the house.

my cat "cosmo" often watches my corn, much the same as yours does, and my corn is VERY curious, since cosmo is all white, and i'm sure looks like a very big delicious MOUSE to him!! but i dont usually let the cat sit there for long!

but i dont usually let the cat sit there for long!

At this time of year, there are literally almost cats on top of the viv 24/7, because of the heat. Sometimes I find 3 or 4 cats sleeping there. And, of course, I have kept an eye on it, but the snakes show no signs of stress. And I don't know how I should keep 10 cats away from it. That would stress ME out! :crazy02:
