Gulf Coast Girl

Newbie :)
:wavey: Hey everyone, I'm new here and like many other new members posting, I just got my first Corn Snake (first snake ever). I'm female, 44 and I live in NW Florida on the Gulf Coast (hence my user name).

I got a baby creamsicle about a month ago. I have no idea what gender it is, but I'll get around to probing it in a few months. I've read a ton of information and watched a ton of videos and things seem to be going well so far but I'm sure I'll have a ton of questions as time goes by.

The snake wouldn't eat at first and went 18 days between the last time the pet store (yes, I got it from a pet store) fed it and the first time I got it to eat. The snake just had no interest so I finally had to resort to sticking a sterilized push pin in the pinky head and squeezing out a little brain juice. The snake SNATCHED it right up! I was so happy to see it finally eat! The next week I did the same thing and again it went right for it. The first time the snake went right into hiding after eating.... the next time it prowled the tank for a while so I'm thinking next week I'll see if it will eat 2.

The snake is about 12" (I'm guessing as it hasn't shed yet). I'll post pictures later as it just ate on Tuesday and is still in hiding. I don't like to stress it out so I don't bother it when it's digesting its food.

Anyway, I'm loving my little snake and looking forward to learning all kinds of stuff from you all :)

Excellent
