Very gorgeous!! Was it a Christmas present for _you_ or your dad?

I was just thinking of you yesterday- we miss you on DYK!

This is a very different looking Boa. This girl was produced from a friend of ours. It was produced from a pairing between a .....

1.0 Anery het Snow (Albino) x Hypo d/h Ghost (Anery).
The clutch consisted of 5 Ghosts, 4 Hypos, 2 Anery, 2 Normals and this girl.
You sure it's just het anery and not homo? That was my first guess...
He gave this to Ashley as a Normal because there are some residual reds/browns towards the tail. When you first look at her though she expresses what one would call an Anery or a very poorly colored Ghost except for the strange coloration to the tail. She even has the defined saddle markings of that of a Hypo.
She has the "lightbulb" eyeballs which suggest being het for albino!
I agree totally Elle. That is one of the first things I noticed. The eyes do light up like "light bulbs".
Either way this girl should be pretty interesting to grow up just to see what she turns into. She is rather strange.

Okay, again, I'm showing how bad I am at boa genetics. But this is the first time I've heard of "lightbulb" eyes. Can someone please elaborate on this a bit more?

Hi Robbie,
The "light bulb" term, as you can see, comes from the very pale, clear eyes. Although not a guarantee, the clear eyes are a good indication of the snake being het Albino. Such as a "marker". Like I said, it is no guarantee. If you look real close at a Boas eye it has a lateral line of color that runs through the eye. most Boas have a lot of small/minute speckling in the area of the eye above the lateral line. An Albino Boa has a perfectly clear colored eye with no such speckling. So it was noticed that a lot of 100% het babies have this same trait; a very clear or "light bulb" eye. Hope that made sense.

Actually, that does make perfect sense!
Thanks!
