Guess the Snake!

So yesterday at the Hamburg show I acquired a new snake - one that I haven't actually seen at the shows before (though I may have simply overlooked them!). I was rather excited, and I want to show him off, but first I want to see if anyone can identify him! So here are a few pictures (head not included - that might make it too easy) and a few hints:

So he's arboreal...

...with some really neat coloration that seems to be specific to a locality.

Okay, just a little peak!

Some final hints:
-It's a colubrid
-This species is not described as having a particularly good temperament, especially when wild-caught

Good luck!

Hey! The only reason I hit it head on is because I was going to buy him, hit the ATM, came back and he was gone! LOL Congrats on the buy.

Wow hahaha Sorry about that! I didn't realize anyone else had their eye on him! Outback said they had about a half dozen of these guys, though I'm not sure they brought them all to the show. Seems I was lucky a grabbed him when I did!

Surely! Ian always has a few of everything lol. It's weird to see fellow cornsnake.comers had been to hamburg too! Glad he went to a great home! Post a pic of his handsome face! =)

Hahaha Nanci, that does make me feel better. And here you go Amanda - one of the only pictures he let me take of his face!

He appears to be free of any external parasites, which I'm quite happy about. I'm hoping we'll be able to get him to eat. As for his temperament, I may have gotten lucky - though still obviously afraid, he seems to be taking a more cautious approach to new experiences, instead of just wild aggression. But really, we'll just have to wait and see!

You don't often see that brown coloration in these. Make sure to keep the humidity up with plenty of ventilation. They can be a bit tricky to keep sometimes.

Thanks for the advice, Meg!

So, after giving him a week to settle into his new accommodations, he ate for me today! Now I'm just waiting to see if he digests it, and we'll go from there. But for now I'm quite happy. :)

I'm sure he'll digest just fine. Is he captive born or an import? If he's an import, there's a chance of parasites and that could affect him, but otherwise, shouldn't be any issues at all.

He's an import, hence why I'm waiting to see how well he digests. I have high hopes, though!

Have a fecal done once he poops. It's fairly simple to treat for internal parasites and not too expensive.
