Gutted!!!!!!!!!!

Hi all,
I was saddend and shocked to find my dotty dead today,
she hasnt eaten for 2 weeks and has been constipated but otherwise healthy,
i made some posts asking questions for the constipation and was bathing her as suggested.
I bought some vitamins to go in her water and used them for the first time the day before she died,
did i make a big mistake giving vitamins?i would think they could help her.the vits were euzovit combisol.
Id like to find out why she died but there is no obviuos reason, she was in a good size viv the temps were good ,lots of places to go ,fresh water ,aspen on the floor, and have a seperate place for eating without any bedding she can eat.
Ive followed lots of info i read here and other forums and as far as i see i done everything good :-(
Thing is i want another snake but am scared i made a mistake somewhere can you guys pls give me your opinion...
Thanks :-(
Tom

SHe may have had some kind of intestinal constriction if you're sure she was constipated and it wasn't due to substrate ingestion.

In any case, Im really sorry for your loss.

im very sorry to hear about your loss thermo man...

it doesent sound like bad care on your part. When did you get the snake? did you get her 2 weeks ago and she wasnt eating for you since you got her? or did you have her for awhile before she started to refuse to eat?

if you just got her, then maybe she wasnt eating for her previous owner as well...something to look into if this is the case.

Ive had her for about 4 months, she has always been ok eating,i read some stuff about this time of year snakes go off thier food(in season)so wasnt too worried about it too much.
But i dont think its a lack of food,my 2 suspicions lie with a blockage of some sort or the vitamins i used(maybe coincidence)for first time day before she died.
Icant understand her getting blocked because i feed her in a seperate container..
thanks

But it sounds to me that you did everything right! by the sounds of it i don't think there was anything you could have done to save her, unfortunately sometimes these things just happen and we never know why.

I can't comment on the vitamins because i have never used them, but i'm sure it was just coincidence that she died the following day

Don't be afraid to get another snake, i know it is really upsetting when any pet dies but when you have done your best for them (as you did) you can give another snake a good home.

Good Luck
Isobel
