Handling and stress

Howdy, folks. I just held my snake for about 5 minutes, and at times she was pretty spastic. She seemed alright when she was just moving through my hands, but when I touched her or grasped her to put her back, she went crazy trying to get away! She seemed really scared. I'm concerned about causing her a lot of stress when I handle her. I've only had her for about 10 days, so should I wait a while before I start handling her?

Thanks,
Ari

I would definitly wait a little while. Hatchlings can get stressed out really easy. Let her get comfortable with her new surroundings first and then hold her. Take small steps though. Hold her for a little bit each day, and then when she gets used to you and realizes that you won't do any harm, she'll calm down. Also, remember that hatchlings are also a lot more energetic as well, so even when she does get used to you, she still might be a little spastic sometimes.

Do you mean spastic just like a toddler who's experiencing new things in the world around him?
