Handling Question

My newly acquired corn snake is a bit jumpy when I go to pick him up and sometimes shrugs me off to push me away when I touch him. Is this normal behavior ? I know the last owner didn't handle him that much. He seems fine once he is out of his cage. I would appreciate your feedback.

Since he hasn't had much handling I'm going to say that this behavior is normal..Just keep the handling times short at first..maybe 10 to 15 minutes and increase in small amounts as time goes by..Handle him regularly (wait 48 hours after feeding of course)...and with time and patience he should calm down just fine :0)

My guy was like that too at first, and still is sometimes. Someone here suggested reaching in and scooping him up from the side, opposed to right overtop of him, and he is less jumpy for sure. The whole fear of predation from above is intimidating im sure :). Have fun with him, he will get used to you.
