i got my first corn snake the other week, it is only 8 weeks old and when i pick it up its ok at first but shortly after it just goes crazy. I don't have any idea what im doing wrong. As i have it in my hand it dont even move about, it just stays there and then goes crazy just shooting off and iv nearly drooped it twice already. So as i pick it up now im right next to the tank so i can quickly put my hand there before it falls down

any advice at all will be helpful

Thanks

This is perfectly normal for hatchlings. It's just has a little bit of a nervous personality, which it should grow out of as it's handled more often and with age. Right now I think you just have to continue handling it carefully so it realizes that you're nothing to be afraid of. You can also try washing your hands with a certain type of soap everytime you go to handle it so it recognizes that scent and associates it with you.

Sounds like normal baby behviour! lol Remember, you are a dirty great beast compared to him! lol You might want to eat him...

I would suggest that you only handle him on a bed or couch, so that if you do drop him by accident, he won't have far to fall, a big drop can do serious damage and may even kill the little guy.

I would just continue to do what you are doing...hold him gently, let him slowly get used to you handling him, He'll soon get the idea that you don't want to harm him! :)

Congrats on your new baby btw! ;)
