Which model? I worked on the C/D models at Kadena before getting stationed on Holloman and working on the F-22
All gens. Used to love watching night takeoffs from beside the flightline at Bitburg in the late 80s.

I don't really like the Strike Eagle. I think it's the bland blueish gray solid paint pattern. Or it could be that I'm just biased lol. The afterburner take-offs are by far the best, more so at night. And extremely loud.
 
though I don't care for nor speak to my father, he's 22 years service retired AF. Started it all at Myrtle Beach AFB, a short stop at Dyess AFB, and then the last of it at Holloman (pre-F-22s).

First 2 are Myrtle Beach photos (the A-10 is over Saudi IIRC). The last, F-15E from SJ (we almost got stationed at SJ AFB, but dad took Dyess) was taken at Amigo Airshow in El Paso, TX. I would have loved to have seen F-15Cs over Holloman, but I'll settle for the memories of watching the F-117s fly overhead.

F-15s were at Holloman before I was born lol. The F-117s were still here when I got stationed here. Very little sheet metal body work was needed on those. Mostly stealth application for me. Even less sheet metal work on the F-22 but a gazillion times more stealth work.
 
My dad was a "Martian" (49th I believe). He did the same thing you described...keep'n the stealth stealthy.

He was forced into retirement after missing Master for the 3rd time, that was some time ago. Last year at my wedding I got to talking to a former neighbor, that said for what he did job description wise making Master at Holloman is a PITA.

All I know was that my dreams were slightly smashed in the spring of 1998 when I finally caved on getting glasses. My Rx strength ruined any chance for me becoming a fighter pilot. I still get all excited up here when I hear the scream of a jet engine that isn't Boeing 737 though; even more in the rare event I hear the whine/whistle of an A-10 overhead coming into Kirtland. My house is right over the northern west to east flight pattern for Kirtland/Sunport.
 
Yep, Aircraft Structural Maintenance. Only a handful of martians left before everyone PCS' out when the F-22 moves.

From what little experience I had working on A-10 engines shrouds, I do not like working on them.

I've seen the Thunderbirds, Blue Angels, and a zillion of other military planes fly. But my favorite memory of watching one of our birds fly was watching a B-2 do a fly by.

I was in Boston for the 4th of July in 2000, at the park listening to the Boston Pops play and waiting for fireworks. They had a B-2 do a fly by over the river, and at first all you could see was this tiny black slit on the horizon and it kept getting closer and closer but still remained a little slit until it got pretty close and did a sharp banking turn and you finally got to see its full profile - was such an awesome moment!! All I could think was "It would suck to be on the receiving end of THAT!!"
