Has anyone had a male be intimidated by the female?

I tried to look up on why my male is so scared of the female or why the female hates the male so much but I can't find any info on this happening before.
When I put the male in her tank, she starts twitching just like the male would do when breeding. It seems that this twitching she does intimidates the male and the male darts off quick fast and in a hurry to try to get away.

I tried to put them in a seperate neutural container but still the same thing happens. She also did this with another male too. I know 100% of their sex because they are proven breeders. The male I'm trying to put in with her already bred with another female of mine.

I thought she was gravid because she would wrap around with the other male she was with but I never witnessed or found any evidence of copulation and it's been over 2 months and 2 sheds and she's still eating good.

I can feel lumps in her but I'm thinking she just might be ovulating since she's not really showing signs of being gravid anymore.

Has anyone ever had this happen? Does anyone know why she gets mad everytime a male is around?

The male she was with before always tried to run away too that's why I think copulation never took place between the two of them.

Are you absolutely positive the female you are trying to breed is indeed a female? All the behavior you are describing is exactly what happens when you put 2 males together during breeding season.

Or the female isn't receptive....being already gravid, or having missed her "fertile window" altogether....

This is her... do you guys think she looks gravid? She's eating really well. She at 3 mice this week. Before she just shed this last time which was about a week ago she was going balistic in her tank and wouldn't hold still and she wasn't eating. Now she's camped out in her box and she's eating great but when I touch her she twitches like she doesn't want to be bothered. I don't know... I'm just confused.

Really hard to tell from the pics....she does look pretty stocky...try holding her right at the tail area and your other hand about mid-body, letting her belly area sag in between. If she is gravid, you'll likely see slight lumps in her belly...

what is the substrate? Looks like aspen and other stuff mixed in?

If you think she's gravid, give her a nice laybox full of moist sphagnum moss to lay her eggs in.

And I just reread....you fed her three mice in a week? Is this normal for her? If so, she could very well just be significantly overweight. I would feed her one adult mouse every 7-14 days...

I should of mentioned that they were not big adult mice they were just a little smaller than sub adults. I was out of adults so I comprimised. I don't think she's over weight she has actually got a lot thinner because of the food strike she was on before she shed. Before this week she didn't eat since the end of March.

Ok, I'm trying to make sense of things here.

First, I'd advise that she DOES look a little on the heavy size. Not sure if she's gravid, the picture angle is weird or what.

Second, when exactly was she with a male? Was she cohabbed with one or just introduced for a short time?

Third, does she have a proper lay box available? You mentioned her "going ballistic in her tank"...this could be a sign of a gravid female looking for a suitable spot to lay her eggs.

If you can answer those questions, and maybe take some pics of her stretched out as I mentioned, we may be able to help more.
