Has anyone selective bred Corns for size?

crossmen

Jesus Freak
I know the keys corns run smaller than most corns but has anyone tried to create a line of corns that could be termed miniature? Say under 3ft as adults and in the same vane has anyone bred larger than normal corns (all over 6ft)

Maybe its just me but a miniature corn snake although hard to start (feeding such small babies) would be an interesting group of corns. The only problem is the people who starve snakes to stunt their growth. Just thinking out loud.
:shrugs:

I'd love to have a 8ft corn, that would rock

i think that okeetees are the biggest morph (as oppsed to the upperkey) so maybe selective breeding the biggest okeetees and we could get giant corns :sidestep:

A local breeder from my area produced a new line of okeetees this year unlike anything I've ever seen. The father of these hatchlings has to be close to 7ft, and 2-3 times as big as a broom handle. Far by the biggest corn I've ever seen.

Til next time,

Jeremy

i was wondering the samething-i bought a sweet LITTLE hatchling snow female on May 2nd of this year she will only eat 2 pinkies once every other week -but i still offer food about every 3 days. she has NOT shed once! but she is healthy.
i also brought a green blotched snow from kathy love-they were so close to the same size, but the green is now approx 6 times bigger than she is and is up to 2 fuzzies once a week.
i honestly think that i have a dwarf of some sort on my hands.

My advice is to feed her less, but more often. I had that problem with my breeder motley when she was a neonate. She would eat more than one pinky at a time but very rarely. It's not advised to feed neonates before they shed, but sometimes it depends on the snake. She may not be eating because she has blown her first shed. Aneonates first shed has different chemicals that are shed from the embryo which is imparative that the neonate rid itself of it. Increase the temp to about 87 at most in her terarrium and spray her substrate to increase humidity. If she will still eat, then still feed her, but i would feed her once a week instead of twice every two weeks. Corn's can go for a while withought food, but they do better fed once or twice a week. If she's apprehensive, she'll come around. Try not to handle her until she starts to eat and shed on a regular schedule. -Jynx

oh i forgot-she shed on sunday -all off but about 1 1/2 towards the tail-she has all sorts of stuff to rub against - a dish to soak in - good humidty ect-so it will come off when it's ready-i'm just happy that she's finally shed

Sorry to hear that, man. Did you get her from a breeder or store? Some snakes just don't make it, I suppose.
