my snakes first clutch of eggs all hatched and this being my first experience with hatchlings i had a few questions. i am keeping them in 10 gallon tanks, 6 in each tank with partitions. they have a paper towl on the bottom and a cup of water. there is a 3 inch peice of heat tape running down the center controled by a thermostat. it keeps the temps at 82 and the humidity stays around 10 to 50%

they hatched roughly 4 days ago and i am going to be out of town for a week starting monday. if they havent shed will they be ok until i return the following monday?i have noone to watch them for me, and my other snakes are old enough to be left alone.

here is a pic of their setup. the top is coverd by pegboard and a locking screen top

any tips are appreciated!!

10% humidity seems far too low to promote a good shed. Perhaps you might be able to raise the humidity to a consistent of around 40-50%.

I'm worried about the cord that's coming out of the viv.. is there any way to attach that on the outside? It seems like it will create problems with your lid.. the lid won't be able to fit snugly and there could be a little escape route..
That's a nice divider.. good way to get the most out of the space provided. Make sure it reaches the top of the viv though... if there is even a TINY bit of space between the lid and the wood divider I wouldn't count on your hatchlings staying in their designated "rooms".
As far as the "rooms" individually looks like they have everythink they need.. looks like a good temporary home.

the probe goes through the screen so there is plenty of room, there is also pegboard that sits over the top, very escape proof

I think you have a nice set-up. The humidity is a little low. Maybe try putting the water a little more on the warm section of their little 'cubbys' so that the water can evaporate faster. Other than that, it seems you have a nice set-up. I have left my snakes alone for more than a week before and have had no problems.

It would probably be a good idea, that before you leave, if you plan on feeding them, wait until they digest. Dont feed them the day before you leave, just in case of a potential regurge.

Hope this helps
