hateling Attitude update

wstphal

working in the Gulag
Let's see, last night I got musked & pooped on and bitten 3-4 times. One of the bites left marks although none really bled. The marks are from the time Attitude hit my thumb and CHEWED. I swear, this wasn't just a bite, but chewing, moving the jaw like A was trying to figure out how to engulf my finger from the side! Of course, I didn't put A back, that would just encourage all this stuff. I waited until Attitude was cruising thru my fingers instead of biting & tail rattling instead.

I don't think A is hungry as s/he had had double pinks for dinner 72 hours earlier. I think A is just a hateling. I hope this behavior doesn't keep up. At the current size, it's cute, but at 3+ feet this snake would be trying to eat my face! Kinda reminds me of the descriptions of Doc!

Well, my worst hateling to date is Miss Ruby, and she NEVER hung on or tried to eat me. Never musked, either. Just struck and triangle-headed. She strikes with such force she expells a hiss every time! At 500 grams, I'm careful to keep my face out of her reach...I still wouldn't rule out hunger, after 72 hours! Or maybe A was striking and striking and got a good hold of you once and thought, "Oh, food?"

I guess it's possible Attitude was hungry. There weren't any lumps left or I wouldn't have been handling A. Attitude was striking and striking, that's for sure. It hardly hurts at all but I got "got" a bunch, and that one time A started chewing. I had just washed my hands & hadn't handled any rodents so I doubt I smelled or tasted of food, but maybe it's the equivalent of why tease feeding works? I just thought the whole thing was funny. Next time, I swear I am going to get someone to video the the little monster in action. :)

My little lavblood, Draco, Lavblood of Doom 2, is a striker. I love feeding him out of my hand- he'll drop his pink to strike at me some more if I disturb him too much putting the lid on his deli! Often I just let him eat in my hand; it's fast and quicker that way!

Wow, this little guy sounds like he has some some serious issues. I've seen wild caught snakes with this type of behavior. A few of my corns are more defensive than others but not truely aggresive. Good luck with him.

hehe he sounds a lil like my milk snake .. allways striking at my fingers .. got my nail once, that hurt but other than that it dosnt really bother me .. supose im just used to it .. my corn never bites .. but saying that hes only 2-3 weeks old now lol .. hope he dosnt get into the habbit tho ..

I love hatelings, it adds to the excitement....except for my Texas rat I used to have, that thing was seriously evil!

I have a evil finger eating corn too, but her looks make up for her poor demeanor, lol She's only 6 or so months old, but I'm pretty sure she'll never settle down:)

So far I have no hatelings, but have met a couple at breeders places and at pet stores. I think it is so cute when they kind of puff themselves up and then triangle head and coil up as much of their body as possible and tail rattle at the same time. It is like they are the biggest, baddest, meanest rattle snake around!!:roflmao:

Well, Attitude wasn't hungry, s/he turned down nice warm pinkies yesterday. However, this morning A was actually WELL BEHAVED. No biting, no striking, just lots of trying to lunge out of my fingers. Maybe...
