Have been offered some white-sided black ratsnake babies

Have never seen a baby white-sided black ratsnake before, and don't know the seller, so am wondering if this baby looks right...

Adults look like this:

Offered for $15 per or a bit less, individually, if I buy all 7.

that hatchling looks like an anery corn to me but i don't know anything about black rat snakes :)

I think that the baby you have pictured may be het, because it does not look like any of the white sided baby pictures that I have seen.

Baby whitesides are actually "Pink sides" and
get whiter with age.
The baby shown may be a het whitesided but not
a whitesided itself.

Jealous! Except the pictured baby isn't a white-sided. Maybe they meant het white-sided? Either way, black rats are great snakes! Be sure to take pics if you get them.. :)

My snake Flicker is a white sided black rat (or maybe a gray rat according to someone). I've found that they have very good personalities. Flicker is a beautiful snake and has never shown any aggression.

Thanks all for the 411...seller claims that they are NOT het but actually are white-sided blacks, so I expect I'll just pass.

Kinda thought the price was pretty low, as well.

Here's a baby WS Black Rat..
shows the one shown you isnt one.

As I've said to others before - they're only a bargain if you want them. Sounds like you hadn't considered this type of snake before getting the offer, which gives pause for thought. You could end up with a bunch of cheap snakes that you don't actually want long-term. And presumably if they were easy to sell on, the breeder wouldn't be offering them at a knock-down price.

I think you're right to take a step back, even before the doubt about the morph variation.

That confirms my suspicions...as common as Lindheimer's (Texas Rat or "Chickensnake) are around this part of the Republic, and as much as the pic of the baby looks just like a Lindheimer's...I'll pass.

My daughter spent 2 or 3 months trying to get a baby Lindheimer's to stop biting, but he really never did, so I traded her her own Emory's, and for Xmas got her a really pretty Reverse Okeetee...much more pleasant pets!

The Lindheimer's was released in our barn, where he'll be more useful. :)

Just some baby ratsnakes that I saw on Craigslist, and assumed were Lindheimer's, but inquired anyway...the seller responded that they were white-sided blacks, so we looked those up on Google and both my daughter and I thought they looked pretty sharp...but wondered why they were only $15 per (or $60 if we took all 7)...thought, though, if they radically changed colors as they matured, they might be coool to raise and eventually sell or trade for other interesting snakes, but I wanted confirmation as to what they were (and weren't)...

Even on Craigslist, baby normal corns start around $25...

Anyway, thanks to all who responded and we'll just keep looking...there's a big reptile show coming up in a month and I'm sure our $$$ can be better spent there! ;)

Terry, I'm glad you posted those pix because I've never seen a white-sided rat snake...omg, it's gorgeous!
Also, I know you're not here for my entertainment (LOL), but I'd love to see your daughter's RO!

Yeah, the white-sided black rat snake is a really cool-looking beast...I'm considering getting a pair, myself...just not from THAT clown!

I looked back on the adult picture you posted in your first post. Is it me, or do the eyes look weird to anyone? I can't actually see them and when I zoom in, it just gets worse. Maybe it's just me...

Anywho, here's an old picture of my Flicker. He's a sweetie. Now if I could only convince him that winter is over for him. Silly guy won't come out of burmation!

I think it looks like it's in blue.
