Have you heard of VMS Herp.

I found a web site for VMS Herp, located in colorado and they are offering some really pretty corns for sale. They offer a lot of info. on each animal and what the genetics are . Right now they only have 2013 babies for sale, so if i see one that i really like it will be at least 8 mos old. I'm sure they don't really handle all those babies much so i assume they will not be used to handling, will that matter, could i calm and get a snake that old used to being handled or should I wait for the 2014 babies in the summer. These older ones are already eating frozen thawed. any thoughts about this place.

thanks
Rose

Sean's been around for some time. I know him more for his leopard geckos than anything else.

You shouldn't have issue with picking a snake, or anything else he produces from him.

That said, check out faunaclassifieds and the Board of Inquiry (BOI) searching for Sean Niland or VMS Herp.

Hi Rose, (of course this seems like an inquiry that should be posted on the BOI, however)

I have dealt with Sean a number of times and have some of his stock here. He is a REALLY great and knowledgable guy. You defiantly can't go wrong with Sean.
As with just about all corns, the more attention and handling you give them the better. If they are a little nervous in the begining, they usually calm down with alot of handling. However, every now and then you can get a "hateling" that just wants to be and stay boss.................LOL

Hope this helps.

:crazy02:BOUT' CORNS !!

This needs to be a BOI post, since these threads are not really supposed to be posted on this website. You will love Sean's snakes. Don't hesitate.

Sorry, I did not realize I shouldn't post this here. Thanks for the input, I really love his site, his explanation of the genetics and why or how the coloring came about is great. I love that I can see a picture of each animal for sale, and my screen reader works really well on his site.

Thanks again
Rose

Rose,

I have bought >8 month old snakes that had only been handled when necessary. They all came around pretty quickly and one of them is my sweetest snake (although that one was a boa not a corn). I personally think the snakes that stay hateful in the long term probably would have been that way even if handled as babies. So in your case I think there are only positives to buying a 2013 that is nice and established. Good luck!

Two of my six corns are from VMS, they were the first reptiles I ever had shipped. I was happy with the whole transaction.

Sean is a great guy and my transaction with him recently was flawless. Good guy, loved the animals.

I have a pair of Abbott's okeetees from Sean. I will say that the size of the 2012 female caught me by surprise at first, as she was smaller than I had expected, but she's growing really well and pounding fuzzies now.

I think the 8 month old will be less flighty than a baby, I started with a yearling and she is the best. She is a great eater and handles well, has never struck or called me a nasty name or unfriended me on Facebook.

I would go with the 8 month old, and I know from VMS's reputation that he is wonderful and will pick out the perfect corn for you.

My first mail-order snake came from Sean in 2006 or 2007. Perfect transaction- I highly recommend VMS. I have since gotten several more snakes either directly or indirectly, and they are all wonderful.

My new guy is on the way. Should arrive tomorrow morning. Can't wait to see how big he is. All I have ever seen are babies at the stores.

Pretty snake!
For $25 a year and helping to support this site, you can get the ability to edit and a few other perks. To do so, you just need to click on the orange ribbon at the top of the page.

He's beautiful!

And I'm with Tavia, $25 is a great donation for all the advice and help this site provides. And you can go back and edit the post you made when you have had too much tequila and thought that your advice on breeding corns was better than anyone else's (even though you haven't bred a thing in your life) and decide to post.

Okay, I have never done that exact thing, but if life had an edit button I would GLADLY pay $25 for it!!!
