okay, so earlier today I was giving my little guy his 2nd meal with me. He's only a month old and has been with me for about 10 days. My brother helped me put him in his feeding container and then he put the lid on. He didnt close it tight and the little guy had almost his whole body out. He then wiggled out of the container and was making a run for it on my bed. I went to grab him and Pow! right in the kisser lol. He got me on the pointer finger lol. This is my first snake so I had no clue how it would feel and man was I wrong. I pictured images from the anaconda movies lol, but i didnt even feel anything. I actually laughed and was more suprised than anything. Do they even have teeth when they're this young?(4 weeks old) Anyway I went on to return his to his feeding container and clamp it down and he devoured his pinky and I slid him back into his tank. His second meal went great with me and I'm happy I dont have any eating problems.

Yep, they have tiny wee little teeth - they're like velcro at that size! If you're a pinky then you're in trouble, otherwise it's just a bit funny. I've had hatchlings draw blood very slightly, but they have to catch you on a very thin part of skin and there's nothing visible a minute later.

Whew! What a relief now that you know they aren't going to take your finger off! It's good to hear he's eating well, too! My hypo nailed me about three weeks ago - I have been feeding her two pinkies each feeding and she was impatient for her second helping and launched at my hand before I had the pinky in it!

Dear Dr. Groki,
It's a good thing your pointer finger didn't smell like a pinkie...the outcome could have been much worse, I had to cut off one of my fingers over an incident like that one time, when it smelled mouse-ish. I'm a bleeding heart liberal like that though. Good thing your snake is small yet, you could have lost a forearm. Yeah, they act like they're mini-anacondas at any size, until they get used to you, maybe it was the scent of the mousie and your fingers wriggling. Mixed messages to it's tiny brain...the young'uns can be Jerry Springer Show material like that sometimes. But evidently the snakelet got it figured out, so hopefully there won't be any permanent emotional damage. But if there is, maybe this will help.
;D

I might have to take your offer lol, I think the little bite helped actually. I've never had a snake and had no clue how much a bite would hurt, so I think this eased my nerves a bit. When I was 10 and had hampters those bites hurt alot more. I'll attempt to handle in about 2 days....and this time i'll be ready:angry01:, just kidding:laugh:

I guess some snakes are just more aggressive than others. I don't think my little hatchling even knows how to bite - and she seems to like me. I'll lay on the floor and she'll wiggle through my hair and clothing.

I wish, mine either nose dives into the aspen when I reach in to handle or goes into the S position and strikes like a pit viper lol. But I did get mine shipped to me and he's only been here for 10 days so I think with some more time he should get used to me. I have been following the rules though.(no handling for 48hrs after feeding, nothing at all for first week). Patience is a virtue and I think he'll come around sometime or another.

Yeah! I've heard that most corn snakes settle into adulthood quite nicely, I'm sure your little guy just has what I like to call some "personality." :grabbit: Lol
