Hi there,

My snake laid some eggs this morning. She was not breed recently. Last time she was with a male whas almost a year ago. The eggs though seems good. Not that i'm a pro in breeding. But they are white and soft.

I read that female can hold on to sperm, but can this be possbile for that long amount of time? Also, she laid in her water dish but only very little amount of water was remaining as I had to change it. What should I do?
I have a picture but I can't seem to be able toload it here.

Thanks

Yes, Corns can retain sperm. A year is a long time, but it has been known.

You need to get the eggs into an incubator - some kind of environment with a controlled temperature where they can be kept in the low 80s in a humid and escape-proof environment.

Also, think about whether you actually want to produce hatchlings. If you're not geared up for them and are new to Corns, they can be a bit of a shock to the system (housing, heating, feeding, worrying about them not eating, trying to sell them...). There would be no harm in putting the eggs in the freezer and throwing them away. The female has no maternal instincts once the eggs are laid.

She already had one clutch last year. I brought the egg to my breeder and he cared for them. Out of 11 eggs, 6 hatched. I gave them all to him but one. That was to thanks him with caring for them. I called him last night and he's willing to care for the eggs again. Which is great cause otherwise, I would have toss them.

I just had my Charcoal double down on me exactly 60 days after her first clutch a surprise to me! 21 eggs all good the first time due to hatch anytime now. And of the second clutch 13 eggs and only one good looking one the rest are infertile looking
