Heat cables

Ashtail

Remy&Mina cajun sweeties
I looking at some on-line pet catalogs and i saw some zoo med repti heating cables. There really flexable and water resistant they go from 15 watts to 100 watts but it doesn't say how hot they get and i was wondering if any one knows if it would be safe to use them with corns. It says that it's a replacement for heat rocks so i kinda wonder since every thing i've read says i shouldn't use heat rocks :shrugs:

It looks like properly installed under the tank it should be fine. The problem with heat rocks is when they are used as the primary source of heat seeing as they don't warm much of the rest of the tank and so the poor snake endsup curling around the to-hot rock and burning himself trying to warm up.

They work fine as long as you use somthing to controll the heat!

Zoo Med Repti Heat Cable (from more information)
Do not allow cable to overlap as overheating could occur. Maintain a minimum distance of 1-1/4" (3 cm) between individual loops of the cable. The electrical connection of the heat cable must always be outside the terrarium. Plug cable into electrical receptacle. Always use a thermometer to monitor the inside temperatures of your terrarium.

Looks tempting - might be a lot cleaner looking for a 6 level rack. Won't have to wire pieces of flexwatt in parallel. Thanks for the link.
