Heat lamp?

cornsnakes101

Two Corns and Growing!
So I had UTH's for my two snakes, Diabla and Athena, thing is they burned out(they were cheapies) so for now I have two heat lamps with ceramic bulbs on rheostat. Are these fine just for now until I can get a couple of good UTH's?

They're gonna have to, aren't they? ;)

While they're not ideal, they will certainly do the trick until you can get UTHs again, especially since you have them on a rheostat.

Thanks I know that they belly heat but I've never heard anyone say anything bad about heat lamps just recommend UTH's. But thanks for clearing that up:)

Yeah, the belly heat is better, which is probably the main reason why heat lamps aren't recommended. They also will dry out the environment more, so if you see that anyone is in blue, it would probably be a good idea to add a humid hide. You could spray occasionally, but just be very careful that the environment doesn't get wet, because that's another set of problems.

Yea my normal, Athena just shed and I can only see like two itty bitty pieces that didn't come off but I added a humid hide and misted at night.
