Heating Lamp question

I hope this is ok for me to post here. While I joined this community because i'm interested in learning about cornsnakes and hope to get one in the future, my current project is a hedgehog I'm hoping to purchase on saturday.

Anyway, today I bought a heating lamp, because hedgies need to be kept between 65-80 degrees or they go into hibernation. The lamp/blub i bought was:

Flukers clamp lamp with a 75W Night Glo moonlight lamp from Exp-terra.

My biggest question is: is this going to be safe for me to leave on 24/7? I've been testing the temperature in the tank (a 30 gallon aquarium) for the last 5 hours and the nesting side is a perfect 75 degrees, but i have NO experience with heating lamps.

I hope this all makes sence to you, thank you so very much for your help, and sorry this isn't exactly snake related.

I have no idea!
I don't have a hedgehog so I have no clue if you are doing the right thing.
Try posting this in General chit-chat forum or look for a hedgehog forum.

Good luck

I've posted in hedgehog forums, but most people don't use heating lamps with their hedgehogs, so i was looking for information on the heating lamp.

When I had my hedgehog, I never heard that keeping a heating lamp was necessary, as long as the temps in the house were close. Just try keeping him in a room that lets in a lot of external sunlight. If I remember correctly, these animals are nocturnal, and move around quite a bit more in the dark, so if you do use a lamp, I would recommend turning it off once it's dark outside. Mine was always the most active after it had gotten dark (while I watched late night movies, etc.). Oh yeah, and tempuratures aren't nearly as important as you think, because if it ever gets too cold, they'll hibernate!
