Heating Options ?

Ok everyone, I picked up a small exo-terra viv for new baby to be housed in until I figure out where I'm putting my other set up. As you can see it fits nicely in my large viv stand shelf area.. Anyway I need some suggestions on heating this thing. I was looking at a small uth for it but it seems to large for this little tank. It covers a good portion of the viv base. I don't want to overheat the whole area and not have a cool spot for the little guy move to. Thanks..

You can have only half or 1/4 of the UTH actually UNDER the viv. That would solve the problem. Or you can pickup some 3" FlexWatt. A heat lamp would increase the ambient temperature too much.

I was thinking about sticking half the uth under it and the remaining half on the side, but the lower frame is thin plastic. I was kind of worried that it may possibly start to melt.

Don't peel off the film. Just set it on top of the UTH. :) And considering the UTH shouldn't get more than 87 degrees with a proper thermometer and rheostat, you wouldn't have to worry about the plastic melting.

Nope. One of mine is just sitting under the tank. Its been like that for months, no problem so far.

So do I..LOL The viv is temporary. I plan on putting the baby in a 20 gal that I have sitting around.
