heating pads in the summer

Just wondering if you can stop using the heating pads in the summer months if your house temps are in the 80s

I'd say if you don't fall below 80, and the AC doesn't make it too cold, go for it! I have friends in Florida who never use heat.

If it gets chilly at night use the heater at night and turn it off when it gets 80 + during the day. Its what I am doing for my corn. The UTH for the KSB broke so he is currently on top my fridge :(

This is where a thermostat or rheostat comes in handy. I personally keep animals that aren't down for the winter on heat year 'round.

Yep - set the stat to the maximum desired temp, and leave the setup alone. If it goes over the maximum, the stat will switch the heatpad off and keep it off. If the temp drops lower overnight, the stat will switch the pad back on again until it reaches the temp you set it to.
