Heating vs. Room temperature

Thinking of bailing on the heat lamps, UTHs. Living in Los Angeles, doesn't seem very practical when the apartment doesn't seem to get too cold... only on those rare stormy, low pressure days which is like 2 weeks out of the year. Anyone else just use room temps? I do have a portable heater, not the
fan type, so maybe I can just leave that on overnight? Any opinions? Thx.

I read that some breeder with racks, just keep the room in the 80's.
But I would still an uth.
What's the temp IN the Viv??
