Hello all! Proud new corn owner here.

kpsammy

Keeper of The Samster
Hello all! My name is Kelsi and I am very new to this hobby. I've always loved reptiles, but lived in a home with parents who didn't understand and so I was deprived as a child. LOL.

I just purchased our first hatchling creamsicle corn "Sammy" about three months back and I am officially addicted to this now. I'm already starting to feel the itch to get another one.... especially after spending some time on here and seeing that so many people have multiple snakes. I'm feeling a little inept here with just one....

I have an almost-six-year-old daughter who is absolutely enamored with Sammy and I hope her fascination continues and grows, as I will certainly not discourage it.

I will try to post some pictures soon as I figure the forum out more. I appreciate having found this site so I can be with those who share the love.

I hope to have many good conversations and get great advice!

:wavey: Welcome! I too only have 1 snake and believe me its hard to keep it that way. You will find tons of helpful information and people here. Hope you enjoy your stay! And yes, we are all waiting for your pictures.

yes it's hard to have only one, I grew up with a mother that encouraged finding snakes and salamanders in the back yard, but when she got re-married when I was about 11 my step dad was'nt so keen on reptiles.
But my mom secretely bought me my first corn snake when I was like 17 I fell in love and wanted more, she got a divorce a few months later, and when we had our own place she had no problem with me getting more so I did, now I have a semi large collection that I posted about in my introduction to the forum, but I think snakes make exellent pets for responsible children, and it's great you encourage your children like my mom did.
Some parents discourage children by making them fear reptiles, but I've been scratched by my cat, clobbered while playing with my dog, and never bitten by any of my corn snakes, they also educate children about the purpose of all creatures on this planet not just cute fuzzy ones, and people who ordinarily don't like reptiles gain a much better understanding after visiting me.

Welcome! I'm rather new here myself, and I was having the new snake itch a few weeks after I bought Santi. I was going to wait until next season, but it never happens like that, does it? I hope Sammy does wonderfully, and your collection grows!

Welcome, Kelsi! I too had that problem with parents who didn't understand... but it wasn't completely their fault. My father was also in the military and all the moving... well wasn't conducive to keeping herps.

GREAT about your "almost 6-year old". That is simply too KEWL!

I look forward to seeing more of you, your daughter and your snake(S) on the forum!

Kudos!

Welcome! Im new too, everyone here seems so great. I think its great that your daughter is into reptiles too and that she has someone to incourage her :)

I can't believe how nice and professional everyone has been-- very welcoming and a great sign. Nice to know there's such a good resource for newbies and pros alike with this forum!

Kelsi, welcome. Glad to have you among us. Just a word of caution. There is a guy on this forum calls himself SNAKEWISPERA. His real name is Mike. He will be real flirty and say embarrassing things but just ignore him. He lives in Wales so he is pretty harmless but don’t encourage him.

Aw!!

I too was deprived as a child... Fish were the only pet that a person could have to my parents...

One week of having Zeke... We absolutely had to have a second one, and so enters Rizzy.

Of course we didn't think that Zeke could be a girl...

:awcrap:

But we think we'll still keep her name.

Anyhow, good luck with only having one snake; we're already debating on what kind of corn we're going to get next.

:D
