Hello, all! ^^

Lord Cowles

Grand Duke of Kaliforniya
Hello, there! I just signed up, but I've been looking around for a bit. ^^ Anyway, just thought I'd say hello to everyone. I actually do not have a corn snake - my only pet is a guinea pig named Snickers. I do want a corn snake, but for some incomprehensible reason, my mother does not find them as adorable as I do. :) Anyway, due to this distinct lack of experience, I know next to nothing about corn snakes, other than the absolute basics. I do hope, however, to learn more about them and hopefully get one of my own.

Also, since I live in southern California, I just wanted to know whether, when I do get a snake, I should keep the heatpad/whatnot of a lower temperature than the norm?

~Realizes that the above question undoubtedly proves his newb-ishness, and precipitously flees.~ :sidestep:

well it depends on how you can con your mom into getting one. i got one.. then they kinda multiplied with me coming up with clever reasons. lol

Hi and welcome to the snake forum:devil01:! If you really want a corn snake I would suggest reading up on them first. I think these books are the best "The Corn Snake Manual" by Bill Love and Kathy Love :p They have a fantastic website too. Also "Corn Snakes In Captivity" By Don Soderberg who also has a website. That's where I got My snake Turok from.

im not sure what your mom thinks about snakes, but they arent slimy like most people think. my mom likes the smaller ones and described them as feeling like baby powder. lol. any way, id tell her they dont smell at all, they dont make noise, the only way you kno they are actually in the house is when you have them out or you look at the cage. they are a realatively cheap pet to take care of.

and make sure you do you homework and the more you know about them the more she will be impressed that you would be really into getting a snake.

but good luck!
