Hello everyone. New owner with a few question.

Hey guys. So I am a new corn snake owner as of last week. Went on vacation with my family and came back with another member.

Thanks to this forum I have learned a great deal about corn snakes but still have a couple questions. The first of which being what kind of corn do I have? I was told it was a reverse okeetee, but now looking at other pictures of okeetees I'm not to sure. The bands do not seem big enough. So hopefully you guys could verify or point me in the right direction.

Finally I would like to try to determine what sex the snake is. Plan on getting it check at the vet but thought you guys might have an educated guess.

Thanks for the help,
Jesse

Beautiful amel! I agree the borders are not right for a reverse
Okeetee.

Welcome and congrats! :wavey:

Since I have a 50/50 chance I'll guess male, but it's just a guess!

another vote for definite male...

Given the blotch and background color, I'd be willing to bet that there is some Okeetee blood somewhere within that snake's family tree. But all things considered, I'd agree he's a more typical albino (=amel), just on the nicer end of the spectrum.

If you opt to pair him with a lady friend later, I'd suggest either getting a nice sunglow or sunglow motley or an actual reverse Okeetee. With his coloration, any 1 of those 3 mutations should produce some pretty offspring.

A local breeder has some okeetees on the way from a abbots okeetee X reverse okeetee breed. I was thinking about grabbing a normal Het amel for a potential mixed clutch. All this is down the road of course.

So the previously female named amel is in fact a male, good eyes everyone!!! Went to an expo today and came back with a female friend.

Congrats on your little girl. So adorable! Miss personality in that picture, for sure!

She was looking for a place to hide lol. Once I put her into her temp home she found the toilet paper roll in half a second flat.
