Hi there everyone! Im new to the forums and new to the field of owning a snake. I have been very interested in Herpetology since I was young and visited a zoo and saw an enormous albino boa. At first I thought it was a dinosaur, like the ones I had read and saw about in books but later realized this was something in the here and now, something tangible and warm. So almost 15 years later, grown up, married and independent I got my first pet finally. I got a snow corn snake yesterday. I went there with all the knowledge of snakes that I have and a optimistic attitude. The one I found was very active, adorable and looked really healthy. I got he/she, I wont know and thats okay, a 15 gallon tank, a snake kit from Zoo Med and a few pinkies. So one day after owning it I decided Id feed her, (lets say her because of her immense docile and loving nature, I think shes a girl), and she ate it quickly. I know I should have waited but the guy at the store told me that they feed them on Mondays and I didnt want her to go without food. So far shes a little nervous and has spent a lot of time hiding under her bedding. But it was pretty funny, at 5:30 when I woke up this morning I looked over and she was climbing up the side of the tank and then she looked right at me. Then slid down and hid, like she had been doing something bad. It was cute. So there ya go, Im new to the site and so far have had some fun with her. I named her Corncob. Thanks for your time and take care, you and your pet!

Wow, you can remember zoo trips from 15 years ago!?

Welcome to the site:) It sounds like you've got things in-hand. Just make sure that the tank is good and secure or her climbing up the side of the tank just may be a bad thing ;)

yah I figured as much so I got a heavy metal lid with some nice metal clips, I dont think there is anyway she could get out there is no gap and its heavy enough. But thanks for the tip, I cant wait to get her a climbing vine yet. Thanks everyone.

welcome to the forums. great advice every where in each section. check it out and look up some of the questions that you have about the corn snakes, there could be some threads already up. great to have another addict join the club.

Wow................................................................................................

(i'll let that slide since you are completely oblivious to the origin)

No it isnt Blunt's song, its a Beatles song. Its off their self titled album, aka, The White Album. The first song I learned on guitar from them. You should check it out sometime.

I thought you were joking, then I realized you were serious. At first I was offended then I thought about it more.....hahah. Its alright though.

(huge Beatles fan)
