Hey all!

New to the forum so I just thought I'd do the honorable thing and introduce myself! I live in SA and my home language is actually Afrikaans, so bear with me if some bad spelling creeps in! Oh, and the English spelling in SA is different to the American spelling!

I've only got three corns at the moment and generally my collection grows as I see something that I like! My big love is for the indigenous snakes of SA, but corns will always be high on my priority list!

Anyway thats enough about me for the moment!

Welcome! I can't wait to see some pics of your snakes. I also think your english (and spelling) are fantastic. I would never have guessed it wasn't your native language.

Welcome.......
Your names not Martin is it??

Welcome! Post some pics. I love pictures. I haven't contributed much of any of them (no camera yet just a phone that takes lousy pictures) but I love them.

What kinds of indigenous snakes do you have? And what's indigenous to SA in particular? Do you keep hots (venomous)?

This is a great place. I spend way too much of my waking time here. :)

Thanx for the Welcomes!

@snakewispera snr : Nope, the name is Arno actually! LOL

@wstphal : I've got from your shores corns, kings and milks. From here I currently only have a Brown House Snake Lamprophis capensis (one of our very common constrictor species) I'm not too keen on hots at the moment, don't have an adequate place to keep them. Of the mildly venomous that I have kept are Heralds crotaphopeltis hotamboeia and an namibian tiger snake t.beetzi.

The thing here is that the heralds and tigers are mainly frog and gecko eaters, you can get them onto scented pinks, but you get troubles with the different nutritional values, etc. I'm getting another tiger mid Feb, will post pics as soon as I can! (My camera didn't survive last night)

Welcome!! :) I love meeting people from outside the states. I have a friend in school from Africa. I can't remember where exactly she is from but I want to say Cape Town (I know that's probably not it but it rings a bell. lol.) Your English is better than most people here! :p Again welcome to the forum and can't wait to see pictures of your beautiful corns!! :D

I have seen pictures of the House Snakes. I like them a lot. I don't know if I'll ever have one, but they are beautiful! Don't know much about Heralds but would be happy to learn.

Sorry about the camera, but I look forward to seeing pictures of your snakes when you have a working camera again.

Happy New Year!

Welcome to the forum!

I love House Snakes. They're such awesome little guys! I have 2 myself, and they're some of the sweetest little snakies ever.

Robbie :smash: He's got me wanting a House snake now too, especially the amel ones are appealing to me. Will be great to see pics of your whole group once you have a working camera!

Hey all! I managed to dig up some old pics of the housie when she was still a wee baby! Sorry about the pics, but it should give you an idea what the look like! They are some of the most docile snakes I have come upon! Even the ones that I catch (and release) in the field NEVER bite!

With everyone posting such pretty pictures of their African House snakes, I'll probably be doing good to hold out until this fall.
