Greetings from the burbs of Chicago. My wife and I have had a variety of pets over the years (Iguanas, bearded dragons, sugar gliders, ect.) but just recently took the plunge into the world of snakes. A Cornsnake seemed like a perfect choice. After much research ordered a Bloodred from South Mountain Reptiles. Our daughter loves her and she's eating well. Although she did have a little poo incident on her lap the other day. I'm sure that will happen from time to time. This place looks like a great source of info and entertainment.

Welcome! Great picture, warms the heart :) Another person who will grow up not being afraid of snakes. Looks like a good-natured little snake. They really are such awesome pets.

I've had my snake for a little over a year and only been pooed on once, and that was because I startled her. Among other ways you'll get to know your snake, you get good at seeing when they're about to go. :bird:

Definitely a good resource and community here, enjoy!

Thanks for the welcome. In doing our research I didn't realize how many beautiful patterns and colors corns come in. The daughter got the final say so, and went with the bloodred. But maybe someday down the line Dad will get one of his own. I really love the Sunglow Motley.

I've been on a few message boards and have never seen this emoticon.

:toiletgra

I have no idea what it means, but it's awesome.

Welcome to the forum!! I am also from the Chicagoland area! Very cute snake and your daughter is adorable too.

Hello all

I recently discovered this site (very impressive and informative ) I am a newbie seeking a reputable breeder and a place to purchase a new baby corn etc in the souther WI or northern IL area. Sure.... I live close to the petco's and petsmarts, and yes, they have a nice selection if your not getting too fancy. Just wondering if anyone could give me a referral and a quality breeder local to get more engaged with the hobby and the love of the species.

I am attending a local show called Scott's in Wheaton IL this Saturday with the hopes to become more educated and have my daughter and I get acquainted with a variety of beginner reptiles.

Any information would be appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Hey Scuba and welcome.

Just a heads up, you should start your own thread for this. Makes it easier for people to find and it is consider kinda rude to "hijack" someone else's thread like this.

To start your own thread, use the blue new thread button at the top left, just above the text saying Threads in forum.
