hello from Illinois

Fluffy & Cinder's Mommy
Hello there! My name is laura. We are currently in search of our very first snake. I'm pretty confident that I want a corn. We already have a 29 gallon ready and waiting for our new addition... once we find him :)

The rest of my zoo includes my boyfriend, my 7yo dd, Arrow 1 year old pit bull (somewhat of a rescue), Chico 1 year old chihuahua, Annie & Taquita 8 month old chihuahua sisters, Shadow the rescue cat, and a 125 gallon aquarium with 4 platies and a plecostomas...

Anyways, I'm here to learn as much as I possibly can about corns, and possibly even find our new addition:dancer:

Welcome to the forum! I am also in IL! This place has a lot of resources and great people to interact with. I look forward to pictures of your new addition (when you get him/her). And remember, corn snakes are addicting! I started out with "just" one LOL

LOL @ your boyfriend as part of your zoo.

I recently got my first baby corn (amel) about 3 months ago... recently I added another baby corn (motley snow) to the family, both males.

Most of us didn't stop at just one. They are so addictive. I hope you find your corn and love him like I love my two.

Hi Laura, and Welcome to what is possibly the best Corn Snake forum on the Internet! You'll learn so much here. When it comes time to buy, you'll be amazed at the wonderful varieties of corn's produced by the breeders here.

haha yes he is! If you only knew! I have always contemplated the idea of a snake, but never went anywhere with it. I've been researching snakes for the past month or so, and I finally decided it will be a corn, and that is how I stumbled upon this site. I have no doubt that we will not stop with just one corn... I have an addictive personality when it comes to animals. Thats how I ended up with 3 chihuahuas, lol. But its ok, we have an entire room that we can dedicate to them just off of my bedroom, but don't tell my man.... he thinks the snake is gonna be his (just like my pit and cat hehehe)

Ok, mum's the word. lol

There are some very good breeders here on the site if you are interested in checking them out.

Everyone here is so helpful and friendly. I joined about a month ago when I had my first corn (Ares) and didn't have a clue about snakes since I kind of took him on because the friend of my daughter couldn't take him where she was going. So I was clueless how to even start caring for him.

Thanks to others here, I am learning so much.

Oh good then.

Enjoy finding your snake, however he/she comes to you.

Sounds like the one or ones you get will be happy with their own room. lol

Welcome to the forum, this is the best place to learn about corn snake care and also is a great place to look for your morph of choice. If you want to check out all of the corn snake morphs to see which tickles your fancy, you can check them out here. There are a BUNCH of morphs out there so don't limit yourself to the ones in your area, that's why people have shipping :)

If you have any questions, we are all here to help and just read read read, most everything you need to know can be found through the "search" function on the top of the page but don't be afraid to start a thread and ask if you can't find something.

Welcome to the forum and i can't wait to see your future addition :)

Welcome! You are down by Decatur IL, right? If you get the chance, you should try to get to one of the Wheaton IL shows. They are twice a month and big for a local show. Average door count is 1000 people and there are over a hundred vendors. Lots to see and plenty of people like yourself asking questions and learning about the hobby. They even just added a vet that answers you husbandry questions.
You could pick out your new corn in person and take it home. All the supplies you might need are there too. Frozen Feeders can be bought at bulk prices, which saves a ton of money.:dancer: The next show is Sunday, December 19th. I hope to see you there!

Terri

Yeah, I work in Decatur actually. is wheaton up by chicago? I think i've seen an ad or two for that... I've always wanted to go to that, just never got a chance.... May have to make this one tho :)

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcomes! I can't wait to get the new addition!

Woot! New babies will be home tomorrow! I got a lava and an okeetee... which were our first color picks... I'm SOOOO excited!
