Hello from New Hampshire!

Oakeetee

Hello everyone. I got a normal oakeetee a week and a half ago, at Petco. I named it Angelleak. It's a she, and she's a fussy eater so I'm going to "brain" the pinkie I'm going to feed to her with a pocket knife, and then wash the knife. Hopefully she'll eat. I've already read the FAQ's. I also have an eastern Gardener snake [common gardener snake also known as.] I've had him for about a year. I also used to own a pet snapping turtle that I cought at a campground once, but it wouldn't eat so I released it in a neerby pound. I"m very interested in herps, and have some knowledge with, and I'm learning about them in school.

Congrats on the new snake and welcome to the forum! Hope you get all your questions answered :0)

isnt the name okeetee, no 'a', for the morph?
i have seen it spelled different ways and i didnt want to make a thread

Hi Cody

Hi Cody.

You've got a new name, and so does Juneo! She's Angelleak this week, I guess. I don't know if this "pocket knife" business is a continuation of the sort of games you were playing with the whole "dirty bathwater" fiasco, but I sure hope not. You can keep this new username, but I've locked the "Cody" account. That account was never banned, so if you'd rather resume that identity, I could lock this one instead. Let me know if that's what you'd rather do. Post responsibly.

I guess you could lock my old account as I'm going to use this one for now on. No, this isn't a countinuation of the "Juneo drunk dirty water" thing, I've changed so I decided to make a new account and start over.

I will Roy and Rich. My snake still won't eat. I've brained, and tryed some of the tricks including bumping without sucess. This is almost three weeks now, and I've tried feeding her seven times now. I think I'll warm the pinkie up naturally next time. Any advise for getting her to eat?

Well, you can almost condition a hatchling NOT TO eat by attempting too frequently. At this stage, I'd wait 3-4 days, and try a live pinky, in a small contatiner-- just big enough to hold the snake and the pink-- too small for the snake to miss it. I'd put them together just after sunset, and leave them in a sufficiently warm (80*-85*) place that is COMPLETELY lacking in light or human traffic. Leave them there overnight, and DO NOT even peek in on them until the next morning. You could try this with an f/t pink first, but you probably have a better chance with live.

Let us know how this goes, and if it fails, maybe we can guide you from there. Good luck!

I'll try Sunday I guess Roy, and I'll update you on weather or not she eats. If she doesen't, I might make a thread asking for help. I've seen a thread that Dimondlil made, asking for advise on how to feed his snake, but his story somewhat seems different than mine, so I might make the thread.

Sounds like a plan. Hopefully you'll have an easier time than Diamondlil did. But her snake made it (she's a woman; her name's Janine). And of course, if you try live, DON'T brain the poor thing! :eek1: ;)

Yea, I definitily hope that she's not such a reluctent feeder as Dimondlil. I always thought Dimondlil was he.... anyway I'll take your advise with the delicup Roy. I used to have a snake named Troy, and EVERY single time I tried feeding him he ate, so I find this odd that she isn't eating.

I think I'll post some pictures of my tank, and me with my Oakeetee. I'll take the pitcures tonight, and ethier show them tomorrow or the day after that. Maybe I'll pitcures of my doggie to... hmm that will be fun!
