i checked out about 6 pet stores and didnt like the snakes.
im looking for them online.
please help!
whats a good website to get them

i pmed those people on the list

Yeah Philly! That's where I am too. Where in Philly are you?

If you're really gung-ho about buying in person, I got my first snake from the MD Reptile show, which is about an hour south of Philly in Havre de Grace. They hold it once a month (except September because the MAR show is that month). My second snake I bought online from a breeder (Colorado Corns: he posts as 'Zorro' on this forum). You can always check out the 'Corn Snakes for Sale' section of this forum too.

I bought my two phantoms from them. I'd buy from them again. Here's a thread I made asking about them before I bought.

Another good person to buy from is Don, here. He is extremely quick to answer any questions you may have & has very pretty animals.

A good place to check out anyone you are thinking of doing business with is here. You might have to register to search.

yea i was on the website also. cornsnakes.net.
im gonna give him a call because i want pictures of the specific snake.

VMS Herps has a good reputation. The link above (first one in Tavia's post full of links) connects you to people here who are RELIABLE & you can believe what they say & that
they know what they are talking about.

Hello from somebody who used to live in Upper Darby Township! Where in West Philly are you?

im right outside of university city. [/QUOTEE]

Oh duh, I totally missed where you said 'west philly' in your first post. Are you going to school here? I graduated from Drexel a few years back.

SMR does have a really good reputation. I know lots of people have gotten snakes from him. With all of the great breeders around here (and especially this time of year) you could probably just pick one that has a morph available that you like.

i found another site

That link goes to South Mountain Reptiles. Don Soderberg has written one of the two EXCELLENT books on cornsnake care. He has GREAT snakes and I have heard nothing but good about him. He posts here very occasionally. I am sure if you get a snake from him you will be happy.

I know the area you mean. I had friends who lived between 42nd & 46th or 48th. They had a bunch of different apartments over a period of years so I went there either by the Market Frankford Line or by car many many times. Good memories!

oh wow.
i go to drexel right now. senior. studying BSMS in mechanical engineering.
i got an aquarium thinking a snake would be too much to care for while im in school.
but once i got an aquarium it made me want a snake even more.
haha
i have been emailing don. im pretty sure i will get one from him.

im debating between
Normal corn snake

and okeetee (Btw, why does it say EXTREME) i dont understand. is that a specific kind?

Extreme Okeetees have been line bred for that look. Don's Okeetees are like the Abbott's I think, or derived from Lee Abbott's line of Okeetees. They are really striking, high contrast snakes. His normals are going to be great but probably not as vivid. Okeetees always look to me like they were done with spray paint -- the street art cornsnake.

Snakes are easy care. They eat every 5-14 days depending on age. A baby should probably eat every 5 days, an adult every 7-14 dpending on the animal & the situation. Tank needs to be checked every day or two for water filling, spot cleaned maybe once a week & really cleaned once a month. The rest of the time when they don't have a full stomach, you just get to enjoy them. So I think they will fit into a busy Drexel student's life. Are you in classes or co-op at the moment?

Okeetee's are a locality corn, they are found at the Okeetee Hunt Club. But people have line bred them to enhance the looks of them. Like Abbott's or the Love Line. That is what the Extreme means, that it's from a line bred linage.

Oh, hey, go check out dwyn127's lava okeetees. I can tell you he is good people to deal with, having bought a beautiful anery girl from him, and the snakes are AMAZING. You have to look.

Awesome! I actually still work for Drexel, but over on the Center City campus. It's an awesome school, especially for engineering. Good luck in your final year :). Do you have a co-op set up?

I think everyone gave you excellent descriptions of what okeetees are! There are a ton of really awesome morphs out there. Make sure you check them all out before you make your final decision, or you're just going to have to go back and buy more later :dancer:

Even you DO check them all out, you are going to just go back and buy more later. :crazy02:
