Hello all,

Another corn owner from TN here. Right now hubby and I own 2 corns. 1 maimi phase from a breeder in MD and 1 albino from a breeder in Pa. We recently moved to TN where it seems herp owners are rare thing. Looking forward to getting to know you all.

Tamara

Welcome Tamara (both to TN and the cornsnake forum)! You'll find that there are several Tennesseans here! If you ever make it down to Middle Tennessee, feel free to look me up!

I live in Fairview, we are the ones who meet you and bought the two snakes. Which they are eating like pigs and doing wonderful. Dana :wavey:

LOL...I guess I never knew your screen name! Sorry about that, Dana!

I am glad they are still doing well! :D

Hello there,

Glad to see we are not alone. We are over in Morristown. How come there is no herp club for TN? It would be nice. Crasy do you have a web site?

Tamara

My daughter was born in Morristown! I actually used to live in East TN (Gray to be exact). It's beautiful up there!

And yes, I do have a website. It is The Snake House

I sure wish there was a herp club for TN. That would be cool.

By the way, you do know the TN laws, don't you? Did you purchase your snakes in state or import them with you when you moved here?

I brought them in with me they are babies still. I was wodering what the laws were here for TN. Where is a good place to read up on them?

Tamara

It was not legal for you to bring them into the state without an importation permit. A one time permit is $25. If you plan on buying more snakes from out of state, you MUST have a permit to bring those in as well (there is an annual permit for $200). You also have to report them to TWRA within 5 days of importing them. Importation permits must also be obtained before bringing any other indigenous species into the state.

You have to have a permit to breed/sell any snakes considered indigenous to the state. It doesn't matter if they are "technically" found here or not. For example, Cali Kings are not technically found in TN, but other kings are. Therefore, you have to have a permit to breed Cali's. The propagation permit runs $250/year.

You can contact the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) to find out more info. The phone number is: 615-781-6647. I would recommend that you obtain a one time permit for importing your babies in, as well. You should ask for an application for an importation permit. Fill it out, get your permit, then report that you imported them.

Thank you Terri I shall look into it. I have a boa coming in later this year so I shall get one for that one also.

You're welcome!

And you don't need a permit for boas or pythons. They are not indigenous to TN.

I lived in TN, near Jackson for around 9 years and loved it. I miss the awesome thunderstorms, snow storms somehow don't compare haha.

Tennessee is a beautiful state! And I agree...there are some awesome thunderstorms here. Sometimes they can be a bit scary, though.

Hello Bob! You aren't very far from me.

SO...fellow Tennesseans...tell me a bit about your collections (if you haven't already)! ;)

Well that is good to know about the boa. He is comming from Ga from a breeder there. That one is a brazilian rainbow boa. Used to have both corns and them when I was in Fl.

Its nice being back in a state with thunderstorms missed them from Fla. Hi to everyone just realized that i had not said that to everyone. :wavey:

I have a GF that owns gecko and we have been talking about maybe starting up a Tn Herpers group. What everyone thoughts on this?
