Hello from Tucson

Hi,
My name is Brett and I'm in Tucson, AZ. I'm new to snakes and spend most of my time with reef aquariums. My little boy(4 year old) and I have always loved reptiles and we are looking to get a Corn snake in the near future. Right now I'm just doing plenty of research and trying to get stuff together slowly. We found a Exo terra terrarium with no box for sale 50% off, so were off to a good start. I'm just as excited as my boy but trying my best to take things slow and do things right. The hardest part has got to be just picking one out of all the beautiful colors these guys come in and all the great pics around this forum aren't helping. If anybody has any tips for the beginner I'm all ears. Glad to be here.

Hello and welcome! Lots of Arizona members on here, including some great breeders.

Hi Tavia, thanks for the welcome. I hope to meet some others from AZ and hopefully meet up with a breeder as well. So far we are liking the snows a lot and the butter motley are cool too.

Hi, I've been checking out your site today. I may have to cruise up and pay you a visit soon. I gotta wait till Christmas cause little man is getting the setup as one of his Christmas presents. I think I'm more excited that him though, haha.

Welcome! Always nice to see more AZ people join. I normally don't like people to give pets as gifts but it is exciting when they are doing as much research as you are. I do have a baby on hold till Christmas eve and I think I am more excited than the parents for their little girl to get her snake. I made them promise to take pictures on Christmas morning for me.

Hi Christen, don't worry it'll be as much for me as for him. Just kinda something we can do together as father and son. I thought it would be a fun surprise for him to unwrap the terrarium for Christmas, then we can set it up together and I'll let him pick which corn we end up with. Regardless, I promise it'll be loved and in good hands. I also checked out your website yesterday. Little man has his heart set on a snow, hopefully one of you has one available around Christmas time.

Welcome!

This is a good place to mention that the Christmas party for the Az. Herp Assoc. will be at our house in Apache Junction (far east side of the Phoenix area) this Sat afternoon and evening. Although it is for AHA members, it would be great for anyone on this forum to come and check it out, and maybe join the AHA if you decide you are interested, too.

If you want to come, email me at [email protected] and I will send you the flyer with the info on it.

Hope to see several of you this weekend!

Oh I am not concerned with you getting one as a present since you are obviously are doing your research before hand. I would not hesitate contacting the breeder ahead of time. I am sure at least any of us on here would be willing to hold on to the snake of your choice till after Christmas.

Kathy, I can't make it on such short notice but I would love to try and make it to a meeting some other time, thanks so much for the invite.

We meet once per month on the 4th Tues. You can find our page on FB - look up Arizona Herpetological Assoc.

Tucson also has a herp society that meets at the university. They tend to be a little more academic than we are, but both groups have some great speakers. You should be able to Google them to find out more about that group.
