Hello from VA!

Hey everyone! I just bought my first snake yesterday and he will be here tomorrow. I look forward to getting tips and hints and just chatting with you all to make this a positive experience for me. I have never owned a reptile, but I really wasn't into lizards and such so I thought of getting a cornsnake. The only thing is that my parents are def not fond of them but I hope to change their minds about that. We'll see

Here is my Motley guy who was born on the 19th of July.

Welcome and your baby is beautiful!

Yes, they are very addictive and are also a gateway drug to other snake addictions. :crazy02:

They're kinda like pringles, you can't stop with just one.

Welcome~your new baby looks nice :) yes, they are addicting! started out with 1,now up to 5,about to get 2 more from a local rescue--they are great! :)

I grew up in Norfolk/Va. Beach..so you're not too far from there :)

Congrats on your new corn snake. I recently got my first one and I was like you, not really wanting a lizard so looked at corns. Don't worry about your parents, my wife was terrified of anything that looked like a snake (yes including worms!!) but 2 months later, she is doing everything except taking it out of the viv by herself. Im sure they will come around!

Hiya and congrats :) , i just posted on here for first time too, i got my first corn snake last saturday...hes a stripe, ive posted pics of is first feed with me today, best of luck x x

Hello and Welcome to the forum!

I am new too.. I am also waiting to get my snakes..I have a butter corn female (Ms. Butters) on hold with a breeder. I am waiting for their anery corns to have ate a few times, so that I can get two in one shipment ;). Ms. Butters started it though, saw her online and fell in love!

Hi there and welcome! We are in Cross Junction, VA. And yes very addicting they are! We started with one little one eyed corn and now have a growing reptile business along with crested geckos too!
You will find tons of great information on here. Don't be afraid to ask questions! That is what we are here for and be prepared for friendships and also bumps along the way but it is all worth it!

Welcome. BTW, reptiles are like potato chips, you just can't stop at one.

thanks everyone for the welcome wishes! I have decided to name him Ivan. I jut got word from the breeder that he won't be shipped out until next Tuesday instead of yesterday because I supposedly didn't get my order in time for them to process it and package it. (They only ship on Tuesdays). Owell, it'll just have to be a test of my patience. on the bright side, I'll have more time to make sure I am prepared. I do have one question though, I have a 10 gallon enclosure for him already, but should I get a smaller enclosure, like a critter tote, for him to stay in for the first week or so? Or should he be okay in the 10 gal. even though he is so tiny?

He'll be perfectly fine in the 10 gal with his hides and such. :)

Thanks! Man it's going to a be a long week. I am not a very patient person when it comes to critters and such. Even when he is getting acclimated, at least I can look at him. Owell I'll just have to look at other people's snakes and read my book to pass the days :(
