Hello from Wisconsin!

Hey everyone! My name is Malorey, I just turned 16, and am from Wisconsin! :) I am new to snake ownership, and do not yet have my new snake, but if all works out, will be having it by January!

I have lurked around for a while as my AOL was not working, so I wasn't able to get my conformation email, and in that time have learned alot already and feel very confident with snake ownership. :)

The only thing I have some concern with is feeding. I read on a thread here to feed once every 7 days. Now, first off, is that right? (Just a double check, ;) ) Then, if you were getting a young snake, what size should be fed? Pinky or fuzzy? Or does it not matter? I am not sure as to what age or size my new snake will be as I've been doing a craigslist check often, and you never know what you come across on there with rehoming, then my other option was to be going to a fish/reptile/amphibian specialist my uncle goes to when he needs stuff for his saltwater tanks. :) I'm leaning more towards the second one.

Thank you, and hello again!

Hello, I am from Wisconsin as well.

This is the "Munson Plan" for feeding which a lot of people go by. It's not set in stone, but it is a good starting point. http://www.cornsnakes.com/forums/showthread.php?t=50106

Every 7 days is fine. A good rule of thumb is for the prey to be no larger than 1.5x the size of the widest part of the snake (so it will leave a bump about 1.5x larger than the snake when it finishes feeding)

Welcome to the forum! When you do decide to get one I would follow the munson plan. That is what I use, modified just a tad. Also don't forget to post pics when you do get one because we love pics!!!
