Just wanted to say hello to everyone, I have been involved with snakes most of my life. As a child If you named a snake I could tell you the scientific name for it thats how much I was into them. My days were always spent down by the local creek and in forest turning rocks, stumps, whatever looking for snakes. At 15 I caught a 5+ foot black rat snake around a local barn and with much begging my parents let me keep it. She laid 19 eggs for me and I hatched out 17 of them and returned them to the wild. As I grew up I also grew away from snakes for a while. Now that I am 40, I took my 4 year old to a local Herp show and rekindled my childhood interest. The son of one of my classmates had caught a cornsnake in their garage after keeping it for two years, He wanted to find a good home for it so my daughter and I have adopted the Young man. He is 33 inches long and I think beautiful and the most docil snake I have ever owned. I will soon be looking for a young lady for him. This will be my first try at the whole husbandry thing so wish me luck.
Once again, Hello to everybody.

Hello and welcome to the forum! That's an awesome looking snake :0) does he have a name? :0)

Welcome Rolf. That's a neat looking snake, are the pics his true color?
Don't worry, everyone here likes to help.

Name and color

Well, Since it really is my daughters first snake, She is naming him Snakey. :shrugs:The colors are pretty close to real life. He might be just a tad darker. I will take a few pics after he sheds. We have only had him for a couple of days now. He has an injured right eye though. The original owners said they found him that way. Thanks for the feedback on Snakey, Before I saw him when the original owners said that it was a wild snake I thought his colors would be more dull, but I was pleasantly surprised.

That is a good name! My snake's name is Abby Rose Snakeypants, it just had a ring to it--well my room mate came up with the Snakeypants and it stuck.

My brothers Milk Snake is called snakey, and my 1st Snow corn was called snake-face. Snakey is a great name. Welcome from another new guy on the forum.

Hi and welcome. Funny how our children can do that. My oldest daughter has always loved snakes and reptiles. She was three when we got her a snake, she named him Cheerio. Less than a year later we have two more snakes, and I'll be getting a few more in the next few months. I'm totally hooked.
Enjoy your new addiction!
