You can't post tarantula pics here! They scare me, lol!! That is ONE thing I swear I would never, ever have. They give me the chills. Been getting too many spiders in my house due to fall and fortunately my cats kill most of them, but not all! Well if you must post spiders, warn me first, ha!!! Welcome :) I'm an animal fanatic too, I do want to sell my birds for various reasons but I cannot find a buyer. I want to have cats and snakes only.

LOL schnebbles!!

Sorry! hehe,

I had to have a Phobia session because of Tom My Son, keeping the damned things lol

took this guy 40 minutes to "work my brain around" his words as thats what he said he COULD do in less than an hour!!! We had gone to the BTS show, British Tarantula Society.. were we met Invicta Arachnid Club. as we now know are very local to us!!.. anyway I digress haha.

It took me half an hour to actually get IN the main door! folks were laughing at me and I am sitting there crying,, grrr,
Once I got in it was the Mantid section I felt such a nut ..anyway! Tom of course had scarpered wasn't going to wait on me!!
I went through to the next hall... and there they were... THOUSANDS.. they reckon there were 30,000 T's there!!! OH MY GOD.. i froze, didnt think that all these tiny tubs, camera film tubs etc and bigger could ALL have spiders in them!

BUT it was there that I worked out WHICH ones it was that scared me... THE BIG BLACK HAIRY ONES!!! now of course I know they could have been Brazilian Blacks or the like..

This guy Chris said come to our next meeting. I'll cure you .... pffft I said yeah we'll come!! so at the end of the very informative meeting he says come on Sue.. we'll do you now, I was.. BUT there are people here!! yup come on .. well that was me sitting down middle of the hall,, crying my eyes out. it went on .. he held my hand spoke to me gently an quietly, all the time im sobbing and shaking!!!

eyes tight shut as he put his hands below table and said open your hands... I felt something ODD.. weird.. moving withing our cupped together hands.. another while went by of Chris just explaining about Tarantulas.. then he took HIS hands OFF mine and said now look Sue open your eyes!! WOW she was HUGE and within the next 10/15mins I was smiling and asking questions about her! THEN i am walking her across my hands!! then I didnt want her to go! I was intrigued!!! and Now i have my own !! I have her out quite a bit now, purely to help me STAY not frightened!

I have waffled on too much now! lol but it goes to show that it IS all in the head! I have a particular liking to 2 of Toms, they are dwarf T's they are sooo cute! he has male and female, and is intending to breed them once they have matured! I am quite excited with that prospect! BUT we BOTH MUST be on hand at that point to get HIM OUT asap! before SHE eats him!

Sue xxxx

Oh my gosh, I don't think I'd step foot in a tarantula show. My heart is beating faster just thinking of it, seriously. I know they aren't going to hurt you and they are probably nice and soft but no way. I don't know what I'd do if my son ever wanted one. die maybe? lol!
I'm sure it is all in the head. Do they run around fast like small spiders? Well, small in comparison, lol! to me a 1" around spider is HUGE and very frightening. I don't like killing them so I catch them in a kleenex and put them out. The cats kill most of the ones who make it inside.

I walk by them at the store and freak out. You are a brave woman :)

I do love your budgie! He's pretty.

To my great regret, my husband really wants a tarantula. He just thinks it would be the coolest thing ever, but I am in the same boat. I don't really mind them outside so much, but when they are inside I seem to think they are after me and have uncanny superpowers. Maybe someday, I guess. A lot of my fears when i was young seem to have faded a lot since I had kids. Maybe that one will too!

Welcome to the corn snake world! And welcome to the forums. For my first time ever, I held a T two weeks ago. I was very surprised at how it felt. It's similar to a fly landing on your hand, just in 8 different places. My father is still deathly afraid of them, but I don't believe I'd ever own one.

I don't think I'll ever get over the fear. I freak out when I see them at the store and I will always be terrified of them. I kid you not, my heart starts beating faster just thinking of them. One night I got so freaked out at a spider in the house I was almost in panic mode.

I picked up a 3-4" wolf spider the other day. He was crawling on our patio table. I set him back in the pile of wood he came from. :) They're definitely very important. And I'm glad they're here to fill the environmental niche. I just would never own one as a pet. :)

I think a 1-1/2 wolf spider is scary. never seen one that big. I pray for their extinction. I'm not sure what good they do, None IMO! I'm mean, but I can't stand spiders. they can live outside, but not in my house.

He was pretty damn big. I had to use a juice glass to catch him. They catch bugs and eat them! I'd rather have a couple spiders than a thousand flies/beetles/etc.

I never wanted a T until I saw a blue one! I have an A. versicolor, and Antilles pink toe. Octa's leg span is about 2.5 cm!

Welcome to our wacky online world, Sue!

its an odd feeling right enough and depending on how "quick" they are it feels more strange lol.

I'm in the same place! Last fall I got my first snake, a little western hognose. This summer I got the T, and just this past weekend picked up a yearling BP! I'm trying to not add too many new things at once, ease itno it, you know?!

I like the BP's too but not the kind of food they eventually eat. It's hard enough with the mice. When i get bigger mice it's gonna be worse!

awe bless haha I love em now! oooooo I am getting FINALLY my young Ball Python!! Are you familiar with the Monty Python team?? films include The Life Of Brian... The Meaning Of Life?? well.. in the life of Brian... there is a centurion lol who has a speech impediment.. cant say his R's pwopewy.. ok lol ro in the film they are yelling for Roderick,, "WODDEWICK.... where is Woddewick?... LOL so Python.. my Python,, is to be named Woddewick! hehe I'm bad lol xxxx
