New to corn snakes
Hi i have recently bought my first corn snake, after having him for 3 hours i soon realised how easily these snakes can escape through the smallest of holes, after a week i found my snake or should i say my ex found my snake whilst going to the toilet lol (she could scream very loud),i may be asking quite alot of advice and reading all the articles on here on how to look after my snake so any advice would be great

Thanks Shaun

p.s. will post some pictures once me and my snake (Sophie) have had some time getting to know each other

They are very good at getting out no matter what we think! I've had mine get out and it scares me to death, so now I've tried learning extra precautions with they b/c they get out when you'd never think they would.

Lol about your girlfriend! You'll find many women here who love their snakes! I asked and ask, and still ask!

Welcome!

It'll take about a week to shed, more or less. At least you noticed she is shedding! My brother was convinced his snake had some sort of disease the first time it went blue. I would avoid handling her until she sheds, unless you want to feed her (my snakes all eat fine during shed, but some won't). I imagine different folks have different opinions--and most of mine aren't very popular anyway.

Hi, welcome to the site. I too am a new corn parent. lol I don't know what the pc answer is for your cage dilemma but I bought a cage designed specifically for smaller snakes and when it's closed there are no holes to escape through, however, I do have to remind myself not to leave it open. haha

As for your gf. I have found that the ppl who protest the most about having a snake as a pet are the one's who cave the easiest and wind up falling in love or at the very least develope a healthy interest. Phobics not included in that statement. lol Ignorance is bliss but education is empowering.

my ex partner found it very interesting in watching the snake eat and it makes me laugh at the looks i get when i say i got a pet snake as i think they are awesome pets and even my 5 year old son sits watching tv with the snake as it wraps around his fingers and he thinks its great

I am new too. :) well not really new to the corn snake stuff but new to the forum. I love corn snakes they are my favorite. My first one was an albino baby corn snake and was the calmest thing in the world. I used to have him wrap around my fingers and would type on the computer with him like that. lol he loved it
