Hello!

Hey everyone,

I just got my first corn snake yesterday from a reptile meet here in Illinois. It's

a baby, which the breeder said had eaten 4 times already. She also said that it

would be ready to eat again tuesday night (tomorrow). Since I just got him,

should I give him some time to get used to his new surroundings before trying

to feed him? Or should I try tomorrow cause it would have been his normal

day?

Also, great forum! Everyone seems very willing to help and knowledgable!

Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi Ikes. Welcome to the forum. Are you a boy or girl? How old?

Don't feed your snake for at least a week. It is going to be very nervous until it gets used to its new home. It would be best to not handle it either during that time. Just let it settle in.

Here is a great link to Kathy Love's site. She has a really good page about setting up a new baby snake.

Drop in often and ask lots of questions. Don't believe anything Robbie says.

Hey Ikes, welcome to da forum.
The rule of thumb is to not feed your snake the first week to not stress it out anymore. :)

You got the gold card welcome, Ikes! Hope you'll enjoy owning and caring for your snake

Thanks all! I'll just let him be for a while and let him get adjusted. I'm still a little nervous

after reading about the countless problems people have had trying to feed their baby

corns. But I'm sure with some patience, and some help from you all, it'll be fine.

Btw, my name is Dave and I'm 30 years old, and live in the Chicago area. Thanks for

the link Wade! It was very helpful! Wish me luck on my first attempt at feeding this

weekend!

Welcome! I'll be sending good thoughts your way for feeding day! All of my corns are really good feeders, but I just got a BP that was being picky eating the other day. Makes me very glad for my easy corns! So hopefully yours will be easy too. What morph is it, or do you know? Also we all love pictures! ~ P.S. Take everything Wade says with a grain of salt!

Thanks Tavia and diamondlil! He's a hypo classic motley. Thats what it says on the

container he came in. I dont know enough to tell by appearance. I'll post a few picks

next week after he eats.

Hey Dave, let me tell you, diamondlill is a class act, one fine lady. We like to call her J9, because that is her name. Treat her like a queen.

Tavia on the other hand is something else. He!! We don’t even know if it’s a boy or a girl. I’m mean it’s from Idaho for Christ sake. Be careful who you listen to around here. We’re not all rocket surgeons.
