It's been 10 1/2 weeks, 74 days to be exact. I'm incubating them the same as last year and so far they're a week late. They've been candled, they're huge and obviously health. Should I assist them? Should I wait? I've heard that sometimes they can get bound inside the egg. I understand that in nature the weakest snakes sometimes don't make it out. That's just natural selection. But this isn't nature and these are my babies. I only have 6 eggs. My heart would be broken if I lost even one. Last year I had 7 and all of them hatched just fine.
I don't know what I could have done wrong. Please help.
 
I prefer not to think of them as late since according to the experts they can take anywhere from 60-90 days. 75 is the median of those two numbers. Last year my babies took 77 days on average. The year before the number was in the 60's. This year it would seem that the babies are taking anywhere from 68 to 75 days to hatch. So I would think your eggs will be pipping soon enough.
One word I had to learn when I started breeding snakes was relax. Mother Nature has designed them to be pretty foolproof. Good Luck
