Hi, im moving 7-8 hours away from here, and i have a Juvenille corn snake. I have many questions, like how can I get lighting for it, and what should i house it in, and other things if you can share anything about traveling that would be great!!! :shrugs:

Are you traveling by car? The best way to move a snake is to act like you are mailing it. Pack the snake in a deli cup or bag, tape it shut, and then put that into a box with newspaper (and a styrofoam liner if you have one). He will be fine without light or water for at least 24 hours. Then carry the box with you so you can be sure the temperatures are good.

I just moved 14 snakes and 13 eggs this way in a car from Omaha to Houston, and they stayed overnight in the box as well. They were all perfectly fine.

I agree with Candachan. Just act like you're shipping. Don't feed for several days before hand, and keep the temps average using the AC if need be. Don't put the snake box right in front of the AC, though... just a nice, sheltered, safe place in the car.

Yes, I filled the egg deli with lots of wet paper towels and then put them in the box with the rest of the snakes. One of the eggs has gone bad but it didn't look good for a long time before I moved them, the rest look great.

I kept mine on the floor of the car on the passenger's side, and had a probe thermometer set up so I could monitor temps.

All you have to do is keep it out of the sun and keep the car comfortable for you and the snake will be fine. Think about all the dealers that travel two or three days each way with hundreds of animals to get to reptile shows. all they use are deli cups, plastic tubs, etc. and pack them away in boxes and coolers.
