Hello,
Im using a 60watt red bulb in my vivarium and im not sure what to do at night, should i turn my bulb off? Its only a plug-in one theres no dimmer. My snake doesn't seem to move very much at night or day. Its an Amel Cornsnake. Thanks! :eatpointe:wavey:

Your best bet for heating is to use a UTH(under tank heater) that will give your baby the belly heat he needs for digesting.
You will need a thermostat or rheostat to control the temp. and make sure you have a probe thermometer to get an accurate temp at the heat source.

It is natural for cornsnakes to hide and not be real active. He is probably moving around when your sleeping.

If you have any other questions the search function will help give you the answers to most of your questions. Otherwise the members here are awesome with giving help to those of us who need it.

Good luck with your knew baby.

As snake mom said, under the take heat is a better way to heat your tank. This is more natural for the snake to obsorb heat through his belly. If the red light is the only way you have to heat the tank then your could probably turn it off at night. This would allow the cage to cool at night and then warm during the day.

Corn snakes are not known to be real active. Him hiding and "sleeping" are very normal. Just make sure you have an accurate thermometer so you have proper temps. Those are very important to your new baby.
