Anyone have an idea what this is. Its in the NW Ohio area found while geocaching

Very hard to tell from that pic. Can you describe some of the characteristics not obvious in the pic?
 
yeah, can't tell for certain which type, but pretty sure a garter --- one that just had a nice meal by the looks of it! Or maybe that's just the branch combined with angle...???
 
Unfortunately I cant give all the details. I didnt see it accept in the pic. Just got the request to help identify from a friend. I thought a garter as well but if the log was larger and not a small branch that could be a hefty snake and would possibly make me thing black rat?
