What should I use to heat the warm side of my tanks?

I have read many threads on what to use in some cases and what temperatures the tanke should be at.
I want to know what would best keep the warm side at 80F and not affect the cool side too much...

Warm side.... but one on the cool side is suggested too. This way the snake can decide which one it prefers.

I was at the Niagara this summer... The falls just blow mind. Sooo much water! And I the ocean quite often.

I've lived here all my life. The falls are fantastic all lit up at night... Especially with fireworks and all...:dancer:

Should the snakes hide be placed on the warm or cool side of the tank?

You should really have hides on both sides. The hides don't have to be anything special. Even though I have a couple of the rock looking hides in with my snakes on both the warm and cool sides, both snakes insist upon hiding in the empty rolls of toilet paper I have in their vivs.

What bout if you keep you baby corn in a sweat box? I keep mine in a sweat box, but i dont have a heater or a heat pad? what do you guy prefer to do?

Under tank heater attached to a piece of glass can be placed under whatever you decide to make the cage out of. Babies do fine in a rubbermaid tub, shoebox or a little larger in size. Once you move them into something bigger, you can just move the heat pad too since it's not stuck to the tub. I use everything for hides. Kleenex boxes, tissue rolls, the babies seem to like the round containers that the packets of crystal lite come in. I just cut a "doorway" in the lid and they love going in there. Pop off the lid and you can remove them easily.

I put a length of flexwatt under a piece of glass then line up my hatchling boxes on the glass...

The temp is controlled by a Helix thermostat.

It depends on how big your viv is. when Jr gets to an adult size , and you use display vivs, instead of little boxes. ceramic heaters are the best to get a basking spot ,hot spot, cool spot

I'd say under-tank heating, such as a heat mat - I wouldn't recommend heat rocks, as I hear they can burn the snake o_o

Here's my suggestion..

I selected other...If you have multiple tanks that need to to be heated then I know there is this tape you can buy and stick it to one side of the tank..I think it's called "heat tape"...I have heard about it here and there on this forum but I'm not sure where to buy it..but I am guessing it would be convenient and a good saver on the electric bill...just my thoughts..if not the tape my second choice would be an UTH..:):):)

Heat rocks have all kinds of issues. First they don't warm evenly. One part may be cold, one part warm, and another burning. Snakes and other reptiles won't always get off a heat rock that is burning them fast enough or at all. I have heard of snakes and lizards nearly cooking themselves.
Also, they can cause fires, since they don't burn evenly. And lastly, because you have to trail the heat rock's wire into the cage, this can leave a gap at the top of the cage, giving you snake ample space to escape.

When I get my daughter's snake, I plan to use an under the tank heater.
