hey all,
I'm brand new to the cornsnake game so please forgive me for all the stupid questions Ill be asking now and in the future, but you all seem so knowledgeable! :D Would you mind sharing your knowledge with me? please?
My fiance and I just got our first two cornsnakes, a female amelanistic and a male normal (or so we think so), they're only young yet 6 months or so, so theres plenty of time to get all the info we need! We're getting a female charcoal of around the same age as well, cos they're just gorgeous.
Basically what I'm looking for is information on the genetics of cornsnakes and their morphs (Im a genetics freak and thats how Nils got me hooked, by telling me about the different morphs and crossings and everything. I have a very sneaky fiance).
I know we currently have a limited range given our starting generation, but once we know what to look for we can expand and branch and eventually buy a bigger house to fit them all  .
Thanks for your time you guys

Well, to start you off, I'd suggest reading through:

Serpwidgets' page on morph descriptions and combos

and

Serpwidgets' genetics tutorial - from the beginning, good review

also:

Paul Hollander's Genetics Definitions Page

Go to the Learning Center at VMS Herp. The basic genetics section on this site is pretty good.

If you have the ability to acquire it in Ireland, I'd get ahold of a copy of Kathy Love's Corn Snake Manual (Order the Book). It's a must-read. There's a new version coming out in the near future, but I don't know how near.

Also, her site has lots of pictures and descriptions you will find useful:
Corn Utopia/Kathy Love

Obviously the host of this site,Serpenco/Rich Zuchowski has an abundance of pictures with very good morph descriptions and some stories behind the morphs in the descriptions.

Another good one to visit is South Mountain Reptiles/Don Soderberg

(Between these three corn sites and their awesome pictures, you should garner a very good handle on the variety that each morph can come in.)

Welcome to the hobby. The genetics of these wonderful snakes are what hooked me in the beginning. My very first corn snake was an anerythristic het for charcoal and "het for zig zag". Of course I had to research what the difference was between anery A and anery B. It was all down hill from there. ;) Good luck on your search and happy browsing.
