Help!!! Problem Feeding

MO CORNFED

3yrs married,3yr Marine
OK, so I fed my babies fast night, the okeetee ate after I covered her up, and the albino hasn't eaten yet. I'm using frozen thawed, I put in plastic bag under running water for about 2 min, or once soft. I tried moving, I tried teasing, I tried braining, I tried covering, I'm currently trying exercise. any suggestions? PLEASE HELP!!!

I would wait until the next schedule feed day to try to feed again. You could be just stressing the snake (and yourself).
Was the pinky warm?? Did you leave it over night in a small vented container?. Actually, I think this is not a problem with feeding, I think it's normal. That's why I say wait til the next feeding day.
There are other things like scenting, slicing the backs, washing with ivory soap. etc etc, that you could try. Do a search for the other methods

Well I have this book by Don Soderberg: called CORN SNAKES IN CAPTIVITY, and it gives good ideas, I did "braining" which is like slicing the back, but its obviously just the head.

So you think I will be ok if I wait till:shrugs: next wednesday to feed her? It's already been 7 days, so she should be hungry unless maybe she's shedding

She will be fine til next feeding. Snakes can go much longer than 7 days without eating.

Just like Lenny suggests, makes sure the pinky is warm and put in the feeding tub with your snake. Then leave it alone. Overnight if you have to. Make sure the feeding tub is secure. I put mine in the viv and leave it if I have to leave a snake with a mouse overnight.

so it's ok to leave the pinky in there overnight? I figured it would spoil, and yes thats how I feed them, I put them in their rubbermaid container, and then back in their viv.

Thanks rich, I was waiting for you or susang to reply.

Lenny I appreciate your help also man. Thank you

From what I heard that's a very good book. I have Kathy new one but not Don's ..yet. and yes I think you will be fine to wait.
Shedding is an issue too. has the snake shed with you yet?? Note the date when it does. It should be monthly, give or take, for hatchlings. Double check your husbandry, temps and such too. Feed in a dim area or cover the feeding container helps too.
Let us know how it goes.

IMHO just 2 minutes under hot water isnt enough to make the temp of the pinkie rise to about 100 degrees F .... maybe the pinkie just wasnt hot enough for her?? :shrugs: I would retry the same method : sep container, covered but make sure the pinkie feels really warm to the touch and just place it in there with the snake. btw... if your feeding hatchlings... they can be fed about every 5 days :) a bad attempt like this one... you can retry in 3-4 days and see if she will eat :) also, as stated, maybe she is going to shed and some just wont eat during that time. Good luck :)

I agree with Cat 2 mins doesn't seem like enough. I put mine in a cup of hot water wait 5-10 mins and change water again very hot water. The skull should be squishy and the mouse should be very warm to the touch. good luck, susang

reason I said 7 days was because I got them on wednesday last week. And they had been fed that day so I was told to wait until this wednesday. which would have been 7, but anyway I will warm for longer next time thanks for the advice
