I also have another question.

I have a heat lamp and a UTH. Should I keep the UTH unplugged while I use the lamp during the day and turn on the UTH at night when the lamp is off?

Oh, and your heat pad should be the only thing you need to provide heat. You could keep the lamp just to turn on when you want to be able to see inside the tank though.
But with a corn snake you really shouldn't need that many heat sources.

OK, did you not visit the link that I put in the last post? You could build 4 of the homemade ones for the price of that thing...
If you are going to buy a premade one, then just get this :

Or like I mentioned before, I am sure you could build this, and it only costs $7.00!

I did visit the link. I am not gifted in my creativity and I feel that it would be better if I bought one. I do apreciate you helping me. Thanks!:spinner:

No problem, but you still shouldn't get that one...I would get the one I posted from any petstore...I have seen them everywhere...

Id just make the homemade one, I did it in maybe 5-10 minutes. The only hard part is getting the adjustment right on the dimmer. Once you do id make a mark witha sharpie.

sorry cant edit.. someone should make a youtube video of instructions for those who dont have the confidence with electronics.

dont get that rheostat its junk! if your not going to spend the money on a helix/herpstat type high end one and arent comfortable wiring your own, then atleast get the zoomed 500r. its only a few more dollars than that first one and is way better, ive been using them for 3+ years now with no problems.

my rheostat is a POS its the zoo med kind and I hate it honestly. The helix ones are awesome I am waiting for mine to come back I leant it out awhile ago not thinking I would have another animal that needed heat. The lamp shouldn't be needed their not arboreal and really just need the belly heat mostly, but I would use a UTH without a rheostat they go over 100 degrees easily without one.

i did the homemade one to make an incubator. works AMAZING for what i need it to. infact i'm thinkin about makin up a DIY for the incubator i made it was stupid easy.

I had a dial-a-temp on my kane heat mat for the sulcata.
It was good for that application, because the big tort would knock off the probe and make the mat work full throttle.

It was touchy.
I gotta say for a snake the ranco 111000 etc is great for what it costs.
It's about $50 plus the cost of an extension cord, a strain relief, and 2 wire nuts. If you want to use it with a power strip, plug a power strip into it.
I have 10 of them, and they all have worked great for me.
Even if you upgrade to an expensive one later, the ranco works great as a backup or secondary.
Ebay is a great place for finding one, ranco 111000
